Olivia Heard, 102, of Smiths Station, AL passed Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held 12 noon EST, Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Smiths Station, AL with Rev. Jeffrey McCauley, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is Monday, February 26, 2024 from 1 - 5 p.m. EST.
Sister Olivia Perry Heard was born on May 29, 1921 to the late Rev. Ellis Perry and the late Ophelia Finch Perry in Smiths Station, AL. Sister Heard, a devoted servant of the Lord peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Piedmont Midtown Hospital at the golden age of 102 years old. Sister Heard was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She served in the Usher Ministry and was a devoted Missionary for many years. Sister Heard is known as the “Mother of the Church". Her face would light up when she was reminded of how she was such a notable person. She really enjoyed and cherished her family as well as her church family. She retired from Swift Manufacturer Mills, Columbus, GA where she worked for many years.
Sister Heard was united in Holy Matrimony in 1944 to the late Leroy Heard, Sr., to this union six children were born. Other than her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two children, Oliver Heard and Carolyn Heard Baldwin; a grandchild, Greg Baldwin; a great grandchild, Jaliyah Heard.
Her legacy will always be cherished by one loving and dedicated daughter, Aileen Jackson; three loving dedicated sons, Leroy Heard, Jr., David (Georgia) Heard, and Willie Andrew Heard; one sister, Lois Gwinn; one brother, Edward Perry; one son-in-law, Wilbur Baldwin; nine grandchildren, Alnita Hunter, Lisa Brooks, DeRicky (Rick) Heard, Carissa Williams, Cornelius Heard, Christopher Heard, Laquandis Baldwin, Marquis Heard, Kentoria Heard; 14 great grandchildren, Jamarlo Phillips, Jerian Brooks, Jaylon Brooks, Jenae Brooks, Christopher Heard, Jr., Genesis Heard, Obadiah Heard, Dejawun Heard, Cornelius Heard, Jr., Cohen Williams, Dawson Williams, Armani Alexander, Akari Alexander, Dailyn Williams; a great great grandchild, Quincy Heard; a host of other relatives and friends.
