Obituary For Margo Williams

Margo Williams, 49, of Atlanta, GA passed Friday, October 28, 2022 in Riverdale, GA

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Eunice Lyles, officiating. Burial to follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Columbus, GA. Visitation is Friday, November 11, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST.

Margo Williams loved music. It didn’t matter if the radio was playing soul, country or rap, Margo was happy. One of her favorite R&B duos, René & Angela, had a hit song called “Your Smile.” The tune’s sweet words weren’t directed at Margo, but they very easily could have been. But nothing means as much/Your smile/Like that special touch from your smile. Everywhere Margo went, she brought a brightness along with her.

And it was that way ever since she was a little girl. Born on March 31, 1973 to Ludie Mae Meadows-Morgan and Willie Holmes, Sr. in Columbus, Georgia. Margo was smart, curious and always up for a challenge. She carried those qualities from grade school to San Francisco State University in the mid ‘90s.

When she relocated to Atlanta in ’03, Margo made sure an adventurous spirit, some good music and a Raiders cap were safely stowed in her luggage, too.

But of all her packages, none was more precious than the one delivered on May 23, 1993 in the form of her son, Myles Coles. It didn’t matter if she was bragging about his report card or showing off a picture of him in a military uniform, Margo’s smile was always brightest when Myles was at center stage.

The corporate world saw that beaming light as well. Margo’s resumé was filled with excellent roles at major brands like Clorox and LG. Each morning, after laying out her “school clothes” and making sure her collars were pressed and J. Crew slacks were crisp, she was off to work.

As health challenges came into her life, our stubborn Margo still didn’t let anything stop her. Looking for help creating a Google document? She was right there. Needed to settle the Marvin vs. Luther debate once and for all? Margo had plenty of thoughts. Wanted somebody to ride with you to the state fair down in Perry? Not only was Margo up for it, by the time her dialysis treatment was done for the day, she was already in the passenger seat.

Family and friends in Atlanta, Columbus and the Bay Area are going to dearly miss those things about Margo, but nobody will be affected more than her mother, Ludie; son, Myles; her surviving sisters, Lisa Roberson and Beverly Jackson; brothers, Willie Holmes, Jr. and Keron Holmes.

Tonight, when you bow your head in prayer, say an extra one for their continued strength.

And do us one other favor: the next time you play some Patrice Rushen or Stephanie Mills, crank the volume up just a lil’ louder than normal. We wanna make sure our new angel can hear the words loud and clear.
