Love: What better word to describe our Kemari Keon Willis, who was the epitome of love. Born November 16, 2011, to Kanavisa Willis and Alfreda Privott in Elizabeth City, North Carolina… a place chosen by God for this remarkable lad to begin his life's journey that would, from the beginning to end, leave an indelible mark in the lives of his family and loved ones.
He had a thirst for learning as he aspired to become a scientist or mechanical engineer. As an honor student at Ridgecrest Elementary School, Kemari excelled at math and science. He was a part of the Student Council, Beta Club, Archery Team and the Drone Club. His many hobbies included playing Fortnite video games, flying drones, wrestling, drawing, telling jokes, listening to music, and dancing. He enjoyed spending time with his father who is a huge football fan. Kemari played football with the Smiths Station Panthers Elite eleven year old youth where they held an undefeated regular season. Through the “Make a Wish” Foundation, Kemari, alongside his father, grandmother, and grandfather James, traveled to The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, were he received the full recruitment experience from Coach Nick Saban and The University of Alabama Football Team.
Despite life's challenges as he battled brain cancer the past year, Kemari remained brave as he “Fought the good fight”, finished his race and kept the faith, as the apostle said. On Sunday, February 4, 2024, our Kemari closed his eyes and departed this life into a life everlasting where there is no more sickness nor pain.
He is preceded in death by his great grandparents Mary L. Rogers, Sammy Willis Privott and Ross Privott.
Kemari leaves to cherish his fondest memories; A loving, dedicated father and caregiver Kanavisa Willis; Mother, Alfreda Privott; siblings, Dream Privott and Everett Foster Jr.; Grandparents, Catherine (James) West, Sam (Erica) Willis, Alberta Jones; great grandmother, Annie Willis; great grand father, Andrew Rogers; aunts, Ciara Hassan, Khadisha Privott, Shenika Privott, Aleshia Williams and Alecia Willis; uncles, Travis Reaves, Howard Jones, Ahmed Privott and Clinton Mallory; paternal great aunts and uncles, Curtis Rogers, Clifton (Latisa Olgetree ) Rogers, Felicia (Terry) Walton, Sheila (Joseph) Johnson, Debbie (Ike) Hemmingway, Darren (June) Willis, Laurie (Reyshawn) Johnson and Dennis (Maria) Rogers; Special first cousins, Jakayla Ricks, Jamari and Jazari Willis; numerous paternal and maternal aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles, a host of cousins, loved ones, and friends.
