Hi! I am happy I was able to attend Harvey's funeral. It was hard to hear the news a few weeks before. Harvey and I coached together at Auburn his first 5 years after Coach Rosen had retired. I always felt like I won the lottery as I to coach with both of them during my 12 years there. Harvey and I got a long really good and became life long friends. I was born on March 23, 1957 so just 5 days before Harvey. Us being in our mid to late 30's coaching together was a lot of fun and thousands of laughs and joy. I loved him dearly and I am sad for the family and friends. The service of his memory was INCREDIBLE. Those who missed it can find a link to the service on YouTube. Highly recommend it. To the young women and men that were on both Mel's and Harvey's teams during those years, thanks for all the joy you brought to us all. Harvey was like no other as was Mel and we are all so blessed to have been with them. I will miss Harvey dearly and my memories and times with him will last forever! Love, Kelly Sullivan

I loved watching Harvey run. From what I read here, he also passed the baton with profound style in life. Sincerest condolences to all, Mark Hennick and Family

I have been a fan of Mr. Glance since those Olympic games where he was part of that gold winning 4x100 team. His caring and winning character touch many lives including mine. I emulated his career by choosing to run the 100 yd dash,220 yd dash and 440 relay. His track and field career was during a time when individuals did it for the love of the sport. Thank you, Harvey Edward Glance, for all the beautiful memories.

For you Harvey, I chose the blue candle, I chose it because of your refreshing and friendly personality. You were my friend, my neighbor, my superstar. To our community you were genuine, you were like the sunshine, you were a breath of fresh air, we loved you then we love you now. Frederick Douglass reunion will never be the same without your presence and your motivational speeches. Your greatest award awaits you my friend. Glance's family thank you for sharing your beloved Edward, May God's Love be upon you always. Shalom...Pam Williams Solomon 💜

Olympian Harvey Glance, You've left an Amazing Legacy.. Thank you for all you've done for Team USA. Deborah, US Olympic & Paralympic Committee - Athlete Healthcare Navigator

Sending deepest condolences and prayers to all of Harvey's family and friends at this time of such great loss. He was such a dear friend while we were at Auburn. He was the only person on earth I would allow to call me Becca Leigh (smile) and I am so blessed to be able to call him friend. His talents were amazing, his heart and service for others even more so. Heaven gained a 'good and faithful servant'. - Rebecca McKinnon

Harvey Glance was the highlight of the James Owens Foundation 2nd Annual Scholarship Breakfast. The Foundation invited back Auburn University's black trailblazers of the 1970's across all sports as their special guests. Many had not seen each other in over 40 years. Mitzi Jackson told me Harvey Glance was coming and agreed to be our featured speaker. When I had the opportunity to speak with Harvey over the phone it was as if we had known each other a long time. He said he would be spending time with family the week of the event in Phenix City. I even invited him to the basketball game the night before the breakfast but again "I'll be spending time with family." The morning Harvey arrived at breakfast, all smiles and the joy of all in attendance was breathtaking. However, Harvey's speech brought laughter, sadness and even tears but most of all the reunion brought joy. We were looking forward to seeing Harvey again this November but it was not meant to be. Harvey chose family, friends, and former teammates last November over a paid event and that speaks volumes of who he was. Thank you Harvey Glance for being part of a celebration we will never forget. Your words made a difference that day, November 12, 2022 at the James Owens Foundation event honoring those who honor was due which included you Harvey Glance.

Thank you James Owens Foundation

I have very clear memories of Harvey holding nightly "court" in Sewell Hall and can ear his booming laugher at this very minute. Harvey was an absolute light as a human being and a larger l than life legend as an athlete. Auburn Track has never seen better - fastest in the world! To see Mel Rosen and him work together was an early education for me as an aspiring coach. When Harvey started to get into coaching we had many long talks about the highlights, concepts and frustrations of coaching an Olympic sport. In all these talks as he worked with Auburn and Alabama student athletes, Harvey always brought his conversations back what and how he could help the athletes he was working with. There are too many amazing coaching friends in heaven already but you can bet that whatever heaven has for us around "meal times" Harvey will be gathering everyone around him for much laughter and celebration. May God bless the Glance immediate and extended family 🙏

Harvey you will be missed. Sincere Condolences to your family

I knew Harvey from working as one of the Auburn University track team managers in the 70's. Harvey was the main star of the team during his four years, but he was always humble and respectful. Harvey helped Auburn become a national power in track and field, with two top-five team finishes in the outdoor season during his career. I remember fans flocking to the track meets on the Auburn campus mainly just to watch Harvey run the 100-yard dash--Doug Wingard, Huntsville, AL.
