Mr. Harry Sneed, Jr., 68, of Phenix City, AL passed Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in Columbus, GA
Funeral service will be held,1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, September 16, 2023 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Deroshea Davis, officiating. Burial to follow in the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL at 10:00 a.m. EST on Monday, September 18, 2023. Visitation is Friday, September 15, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
Harry Sneed, Jr. was born February 23, 1955, in Columbus, GA at the Medical Center to the late Harry Sneed and Ruby Mae Sneed.
Harry’s parents; sister, Gloria Jean Phillips Miles, and brother, Alvin Phillips, Sr. proceed him in death.
Harry confessed to Christ at an early age and rededicated his life to Jesus Christ during a previous hospitalization on July 9, 2023. He was a member of Nichols Chapel, A.M.E. Church.
Harry served in the United States of America Army as an E4 Radio Mechanic. He was a very dedicated truck trucker for National trucking companies: Burnham, Mayflower, and United for over 30 years.
If you knew Harry, he was always the life of the party. He lived every day as if it was his last day and never met a stranger. Harry supported, loved, and cared for many including children in the community and close family friends as if they were his own. He was the real G.O.A.T of truck driving. Harry’s road name was “LongHaul Harry” b/c he was one of the very few truckers who could haul two to three trailers at one time across the United States of America. There was nothing he couldn’t do in trucking and he was always one call that's all from a load in trucking. Trucking was his specialty area where he was free to do what he wanted to do for many families known and unknown show.
Harry showed unconditional love to all he served. Trucking and serving others was a great passion that he prided himself and integrity endlessly until his health began to change.
The legacy Harry leaves behind with everlasting memories are his only son, Dericos (Terinda) Jackson, Pelham, GA; seven grandchildren, Debbie Jackson, Aaliyah Jackson, Dericos Jackson, Jr., Dernarius Ross, Maliks Peoples, Malisha Edwards and Javionne Thomas; four great-grandchildren all of Pelham, GA; two sisters, Jacqueline (Tony) Grant, Atlanta, GA and Janice (Dallas) Wilson, Phenix City, AL; devoted nieces, Cynthia (Lee Andrew) Lewis, Phenix City, AL, Michele R. (Mark) Menefee, Lee County, AL, and Lakeisha Sneed, Atlanta, GA; loving nephews, Anthony G. (Deborah) Miles, Singapore, Marquis Crowell, Atlanta, GA, Alvin Phillips, Jr. and Keith Phillips both of Columbus, GA, Adrian (Bridget) Phillips, Travis Phillips and Harry Terrell Sneed all Phenix City, AL; loving great nephews, Dr. Dietrick Lewis, Newnan, GA; Mark (Denise) Menefee Fayetteville, NC and Jahquarius Sneed, Atlanta, GA; three devoted great nieces, Milessa Menefee, Lee County, AL, Myesha Phillips,Columbus, GA, Sanaa Phillips, Atlanta, GA and Travis D. Phillips; three great-great nephews, Deyondius, D’Marques, and Mehki all of Fayetteville, NC; loving aunt, Sallie Harper El Paso, TX; sister-in-law, Daphne Phillips, Phenix City, AL; loving and dedicated uncle, Jessie Coppin John Creek, GA; devoted longtime friends, Joseph Reese, Charlene Johnson and Theresa Ann Thomas all of Columbus, GA. Harry is remembered, celebrated, and loved by a host of family members, friends, and loved ones.
