Gwendolyn Matthews, 50, passed Sunday, January 14, 2024 in Phenix City, AL.
Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, January 20, 2024 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home.
Gwendolyn Nickerson Matthews was born in Phenix City, AL on August 1, 1973, to the late Georgia Nickerson and the late Johnny Nickerson.
Gwendolyn graduated from The University of Phoenix with a Bachelor's degree working as a Phlebotomist and from home.
She was a caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who enjoyed listening to music, dancing, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. This was one of the most important aspects of her life.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia and Johnny Nickerson; grandparents, Andrew Lee Crowell and Hattie Crowell; husband, Robert Matthews, Jr.; sister, Angela Allen and auntie, Mary Lee.
She leaves to mourn her children; Lakeshia Nickerson, Jakarence Pickett, Darren Pickett, & Samatha Nickerson. Siblings; Betty Nelson (Rodney), Melissa James, Johnny Nickerson, Altrazo Nickerson, & Dakwon Nickerson, Aunties; Helen Goodwin & Betty Crowell, & her Uncle; Andrew Lee Crowell (Debbie Crowell).
Gwendolyn also leaves behind 8 grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews as well as family and friends.
