On July 8, 2024, while surrounded by her loved one, our Heavenly Father opened his arms and beckoned Glenda to come home for her eternal rest, freeing her from all pain and physical suffering.
In 1985, Glenda was united in matrimony to Bill Franklin and one child, Alexandria Franklin, was born to that union.
Glenda was added to the Lord’s Church at Motts, Alabama early in her life and worshipped there throughout her childhood and early adulthood. She relocated to Fort Lauderdale in 2000, where she attended the New Golden Heights Church of Christ. The love of Sweet Home Alabama was strong in her heart, prompting her to return to Alabama in 2019. Over the course of the last few years health issues prevented her from being as active as she would have liked, but her love and faith in God never wavered. The curse of Covid provided a blessed avenue for those that didn't have the physical ability to attend worship service at the Church building to still participate in the worship service via Zoom or YouTube.
After graduating from Central High School, Phenix City, Alabama, Glenda worked in the grocery store industry throughout Smiths Station and Phenix City. She was a long-time employee of Penn Dutch Meats in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she worked as a Meat Processing Technician. She was adored and respected by her co-workers and customers. Many of her customers would only purchase meats that “Miss Glenda” recommended.
Glenda was preceded in death by her mother, Dasie Colquitt; her father, Edward Colquitt; her daughter, Natasha Nacoal Colquitt (Nikki); brothers, Randolph, Steven and James Colquitt; her grandparents and many special aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her companion, Michael Butler; children, Tiffany Colquitt of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Alexandria Franklin Reed (Dexter) of Columbus, GA; sister, Nacoal Colquitt Brooks (Donzell) of Plantation, FL; brothers, Terry (Jan) Lowe, Adrian Lowe and Terrance Fraizer; grand-children, Jonathan Malone, Tyree Malone, Natasha Franklin, Joshlyn Franklin, Dexter Reed, Jr., Jayden Shipp and Jamir Reed; nieces, Cameka Trammell and Camaryn Trammell, Khrischinda Clarke Averett, Khrislyn Averett, Ashley Brooks and A’Niah Colquitt; nephews, Anthony Colquitt; Evan Brooks, Elijah Engram and Enzo Brooks-Engram; uncles, Donald Butler, Tanzie “Bruce” Peterson, Frank Peterson, Charles Allen and Willie Butler (cousin/honorary uncle); aunts, Ella Mae Welch, Edie Mae (Peaches) Thompson (cousin/honorary aunt); Gloria Jackson and Delores Colquitt; a host of cousins who were more like sisters and brothers, friends who were more like family, and many others too numerous to name, but who she loved, conversed and enjoyed life with on a constant basis.
