Mr. Elijah Shorter, Sr., 82, of Columbus, GA passed Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, May 13, 2023 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Harrison Ford, officiating. Burial to follow in Green Acres Cemetery, Columbus, GA. Visitation is Friday, May 12, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. EST.
Mr. Elijah Shorter, Sr. was born December 28, 1940 to the late Theodore Shorter, Sr. and the late Clara Shorter in Omaha, Georgia. It was early morning on May 3, 2023 that God called Mr. Shorter to his Heavenly home.
In 1962 he met and fell in love with Linda Jean Shorter. They were married on June 6, 1963 and out of this union came their beautiful children.
He was an excellent worker and retired from the City of Hialeah, Florida after 30 years of service.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jean Shorter; a sister, Doris Shorter; three brothers, Charlie Shorter, John Flintroy and Samuel (Barbara) Shorter; and grandson, Kendrick Shorter.
Elijah Shorter, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories seven children, Rebie Young (Edgar), Aundria Alexander, Elisha Shorter (Michael), Elijah Shorter, Jr., Lynette Shorter, Jonathan Shorter (Joan) and Vernette Reynolds; four sisters, Lula Mae Shorter, Dianne Pitts, Brenda Shorter and Shirlene (Larry) Nelson; two brothers, Theodore Shorter, Jr. and Arthur (Yvonne) Shorter; 28 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A special acknowledgement to all his neighbors.
