Edna Johnson, 72, passed on Sunday, January 12, 2025 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Elder Louis Kinloch, officiating. Burial will follow in First Missionary Baptist Church, Hurtsboro, AL. Public viewing will be from 12 - 5 p.m. EST, Friday, January 17, 2025.
Mrs.Edna Johnson was born on December 20, 1952 in Hurtsboro, AL to the late Mattie Varner and Paul Varner.
Edna was educated in the Russell County School System and she later moved to East Chicago, Indiana for many years until she moved to Columbus, Georgia where she met and married her husband, Cornell Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson leaves behind her husband of 24 years, Mr. Cornell Johnson;one daughter, Yolanda Varner; six sisters, Geraldine (Willie) Marion of Hammond, IN; Joanne Howard, Betty Varner, Phyllis (Clifford) Pass, Lola Allen of Columbus, GA; and Tressa Varner of Hurtsboro, AL;one grandson, J.B. Cobb J.R; 3 great grands, Jarshaun Cobb, Jayden Cobb and Jhalil Cobb all of Columbus GA;four sister in laws, Loretta Johnson, Janet Johnson, Barbara Johnson and Carolyn Johnson;four brother in laws, Sylvester Johnson, George Johnson, Herman Johnson and Coran Johnson all of Washington D.C., a special cousin, Charlie Campbell, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
To the family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss. Death is never easy, it's hard pill to swallow. But how comforting it is to know that we have the hope of the resurrection.
