Mr. Douglas Lee, 79, of Shiloh, GA passed Saturday, June 17, 2023 in Georgia.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church, Hamilton, GA with Pastor Lacaya Day, pastor, Pastor Tim Maddox, officiating and Pastor Cory Jordan, eulogist. Burial to follow in Green Acres Cemetery, Columbus, GA. Visitation is Friday, June 30, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
Douglas Lee was born on Tuesday, September 28, 1943, to the union of Winson and Emma Lee in Ellerslie, GA. He moved to Columbus, GA when he was a young man.
Douglas accepted Christ and was baptized in the latter years of his life. He received his formal education from the Muscogee County School System of Georgia and the Leon County School System of Florida. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, FL. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Alaska and Dayton, Ohio for most of his career. Following retirement from the Air Force, Douglas proved to be a savvy businessman and became very successful in real estate and investments.
Douglas was a sports enthusiast who kept up with a wide range of sporting events. He also loved to fish, hunt, and watch westerns.
He was preceded in death by his father, Winson Lee; mother, Emma Lee; brothers, Willie Frank Lee, Bennie Lee, Winson Lee, Jr. , Warren Lee, and Godfrey Lee; sister, Eva Kate Watt.
He leaves to cherish his memories five beautiful children, Jonathan McGee of Decatur, GA, Vikki Jordan (Cory) of Marietta, GA, Garry Lee of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Karlos Lee of Columbus, GA, and Shanta Lee of Ellerslie, GA; three sisters, Gloria Maddox (Arch) of Box Springs, GA, Loretta Jackson (Roosevelt) of Manchester, GA, and Angela Stewart (Harry) of Tyler, TX; two brothers, Deprimethon Lee (Donna Marie) of Tyler, TX and Andre Lee (Peggy) of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Ereka Watson, Chainey Lee, Taylan McGee, Cameron McGee, Kalis Lee, Karlos Lee, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Chase Watson, Calah Watson; a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
