Mrs. Cuba D. Cooper was born to the late Daniel None and Ida Bell Walton on December 23, 1948 in Tuskegee, Alabama. To this union four children were born, Sanford None, Lille Bell None, and Lois Alexander. At an early age, she committed her life to Christ and joined Uchee Chapel A.M.E. Church. There she sang in the choir and enjoyed Sunday school. Cuba joined, in holy matrimony, with the love of her life Mr. Raymond Cooper on June 20, 1974. To this union, two children were born Chantinell (Anton) Trimble and Raymond Rumond Cooper. Prior to their union, Cuba and Raymond often kept their niece, “bonus daughter,” Angela None-Reed.
Mrs. Cooper treasured her family. Her love for children showed in her career as an elementary school teacher spanning more than 30 years in the Russell County Educational System.
Mrs. Cooper was a proud member of Oliver High School’s graduating class of 1968. She graduated from Tuskegee Institute in 1972 where she made lifelong friendships with Barbara Lane and Atlena Bledsow while completing her Elementary Education degree. She completed her Master’s degree at Troy State University in 1978.
Later in life both she and her husband joined the fellowship of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her death. She found such a warm community amongst the members. She and Ms. Helen Thompson along with Jeanette Ralph became great friends. Mrs. Cooper loved the Lord and served as a church musician for several churches during her life. Her love for music and singing was noticeable by all who knew her. She loved listening to Richard Smallwood and Shirley Caesar.
Mrs. Cooper was a faithful, dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and niece. Cuba was an avid reader. She enjoyed travel, spending time with her grandchildren and having long talks with her family and friends. She had an infectious smile and was full of joy. Cuba was a peace maker in every sense of the word. She was a hidden humanitarian, always helping others while wanting no recognition.
Mrs. Cooper leaves to cherish her legacy her loving and devoted children, Chantinell (Anton) Trimble, Montgomery, AL, Raymond Rumond Cooper, Phenix City, AL, and a loving and devoted daughter she raised in love, Angela None-Reed, Phenix City, AL; beautiful and loving grandchildren, Chelsea and Camille Trimble, Montgomery, AL, Jarius and Kayla Reed, Phenix City, AL; loving and devoted brother, Sanford (Mary) None, Phenix City, AL.; loving sister, Lille Bell None Phenix City, AL; loving sisters-n-law, Cheryl (Author) Cooper, Detroit, MI and Susie Cooper, Phenix City, AL; brothers-n-law, James (Mary) Cooper, Phenix City, AL, Charlie (Corlis) Colquitt, Opelika, AL and Billy Alexander, Phenix City, AL; also cherishing her memories are hosts of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Prayers of peace and comfort during this most difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Cooper at Ladonia Elementary over 20 years ago. Upon meeting her, she immediately asked if I was Ernest and Diane's daughter. She went on to tell me about their friendship throughout high school. My parents spoke so highly of her! Mrs. Cooper looked out for me and encouraged me more than she could have ever known. Much love to her entire family. She was indeed a jewel! Anetra Caldwell Clark
