Obituary For Beatrice Ross

Beatrice Ross, 94, of Hurtsboro, AL passed Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, 2:00 pm EST at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. Public viewing is from 2-5 pm EST on Friday, March 15, 2024. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The life of Beatrice Benton Ross began on January 16, 1930 to the late Joe Benton, Sr. and Mattie Smith Benton.

She attended Russell County Training School where she ran track and was co-captain of the girls basketball team. She graduated in 1949.

Beatrice moved to Pittsburg, P A, where she attended nursing school and was employed as a nursing assistant and later became an LPN. She later returned to Alabama and retired from a career that she loved. After retirement she enjoyed knitted, crocheting, arts, crafts and bingo.

Beatrice was married to Roby Ross, Sr., who preceded her in death and her son, Gerald Benton; one daughter-in-law, Yvonne Ross; two son-in-laws, Bryant Ross and Roby Ross, Jr..

She leaves cherished memories to her son, Claude Benton(Bessie) of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Deborah Lee Anderson of Columbus, GA; step children, Calvin (Sallie) Ross Columbus, GA, Eddie Ross of Valley, AL, Gwendolyn Bailey of Valley, AL and Keith (Lorraine) Ross of Greenville, SC; daughter-in-law, Gladys Ross of Valley, AL; 15 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
