Mrs. Annie B. Dix “Lil Bit”, 69, of Phenix City, AL passed Friday, July 21, 2023 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Mt. Missouri Baptist Church, Hurtsboro, AL with Rev. Dr. C.L. Carlise, pastor and Rev. David Dawson, eulogist. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is Friday, August 4, 2023. from 1-5 p.m. EST.
Annie B. was affectionately known as "Lil Bit", as a child because she was so tiny was born and raised in Rutherford, AL to Walter “Mike” Upshaw and Ola Mae Chappell-Cary on April 15, 1954. She had a affectionate smile and she was not a selfish person.
Annie enjoyed the life of a country girl. She loved fishing, cooking and cleaning her home. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and was like a mother to some and a best friend you could always count on. She love all sports, but especially football. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband for 43 years until his death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Edward Dix, Sr.; grandaughter, Alanna Marie Johnson; sister, Lula Mae Williams; brothers, Henry Lee Jones and Sam Chappell, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Carrie Dix, Dorothy Dix, Eddie Lou Upshaw, Annie B. Ward and Catherine Bacon; brother-in-law, John Berry; nieces, Loretta Ann Patterson McCaster and Katrice Ann Williams and nephew-in-law, Stevie Anderson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories five children, Tammy Dix Johnson, Columbus, GA, James Edward Dix, Jr.,Valerie Dix and Kathryn Dix, all of Phenix City AL and Jeffrey Lee Dix (Vickie), Troy AL; three brothers, Willie James Chappell (Sarah) Phenix City, AL, Walter Lee Upshaw, Jr., Stockbridge, GA and Charles Turner, Eufaula, AL; four sisters, Tracy Lynn Upshaw, Phenix City, AL, Karen Turner Upshaw, Norcross, GA, Tara Upshaw-Pace (Dewayne), Tampa, FL and Elder Ma'Sheila Williams, St. Petersburg, FL; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Walter Dix, Sr., Hurtsboro, AL and Horace Williams, Bunnell, FL; one sister-in-law, El'mer Dix -Lewis; five grandchildren, Candace, Allison, Amauri, Jayden and Dorian; three great grandchildren, Joshua, Marleigh and Hanna; special nieces and nephew, Jacqueline Anderson, Diane Patterson and Curtis Patterson, Jr.; best friend from childhood, Princie Johnson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Auntie,Take your rest !! I am miserable knowing I am here in Alabama planning your celebration of life and not your 70th birthday party as we had planned. You have been there for me since I was a child, I am missing our long phone conversation... your visit to the swamp as you say..I am end this as we would if we were talking, remember I love you!
