Annette Chambers, 65, passed on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at St. John AME Church, Located 165 Ft. Mitchell, AL with Rev. Samuel Smith, Pastor, Officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Public viewing is 12:00-5:00 p.m EST on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Annette Chambers, age 65, of Fort Mitchell, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family during her final moments.
Born on May 2, 1959 in Fort Mitchell, Alabama to the late Reverend Willie Chambers and the late Maggie Lewis Chambers. Annette was a beloved sister, aunt, godmother, sister-in-law, and friend, known for her warm heart, generous spirit, kindness and wisdom.
Annette accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John A.M.E Church where she served faithfully on the Scholarship Committee, Vice President of the Willing Workers, Stewardess Board, and Pastor’s Aid Committee.
Annette graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1977. She worked at Douglas and Lomason and Char-Broil. After the closing of Char-Broil, Annette attended Chattahoochee Valley Community College and Troy University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Annette worked at Oliver Elementary School as a second-grade teacher, until her retirement in 2022. Annette loved the children that she taught and they loved her. She worked diligently to help them grow and succeed. Annette received many accolades during her decade of teaching at Oliver Elementary School to include: Russell County School District Superintendent’s Excellence Award, Oliver Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year, Oliver Elementary School’s Faculty of the Month, You Make a Difference Award (numerous times), and Kinetic Credit Union’s Golden Apple Award.
Annette loved and cherished her family. Annette is survived by her loving son, Delvonte Chambers of Ft. Mitchell, Alabama; her brothers: Ricky (Vivian) Chambers, Willie (Carita) Chambers; her sisters: Kim (Morris) Bowman of Phenix City, Alabama, Lisa Chambers of Ft. Mitchell, Alabama; her aunts: Juanita James and Mattie (Carey) Ford of Ft. Mitchell, Alabama. Annette had a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, a godson-DeAndre Bowman, a goddaughter-Chelsea Brooks, and many friends that all loved and adored her dearly. Mary Jones and Shirley Jordan were very special friends of Annette and they were always there to check on her and help in any way.
