Obituary For Allen Russell, Jr.

Mr. Allen Russell, Jr., 88, of Phenix City, AL passed Monday, December 21, 2020 in Phenix City, AL.

Funeral service will be held 12 noon EST, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest L. Gordon, officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Visitation will be held Monday, December 28, 2020 from 1-5 p.m. EST.

SFC (Ret.) Russell was born October 2, 1932 in Phenix City, AL to the late Allen Russell, Sr. and the late Ocie B. Russell. He was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church where he was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and Male Chorus. During the organizational phase of the Male Chorus in 1997, Mr. Russell's dedication was contributing factor during this time. While Mr. Russell was in good health he served on the Steward and Trustee Boards at St. Paul A.M.E. Church until his health begin to decline. SFC (Ret.) Russell served in the United States Army for 22 years. While serving he received various awards; Drill Sargeant Badge, Good Conduct Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Awards. He also worked for the Columbus Consolidated Government for 29 years and the Ft. Benning School District for five years.

Survivors are his wife, Lucille Russell; daughters, Alethea Russell-None, Satyra (Alan) Russell-Sutton and Bridget (Bruce) Reeves; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Please visit www.thetaylorfunealhome.com to sign the online registry.
