Precious memories, unseen angels Sent from somewhere to my soul How they linger, ever near me And the sacred past unfolds Precious memories, how they linger How they ever flood my soul In the stillness, of the midnight Precious sacred scenes unfold Precious father, loving mother Fly across the lonely years And old home scenes, of my childhood In fond memory appears
We have tons of precious memories with the Robinson/Davis clan, back with the roads were still made of dirt. Friends become family after a lifetime of memories. Our hearts are heavy to hear of Derrick's passing, and we offer our condolences with love. Priscilla, Patrick Hayes & Family

I am heartbroken to learn one of "The Boys Next Door" has transitioned.
Derrick and Craig were always my favorites. For over 40 years we were next door neighbors. I remember when they moved next door. I would watch them play baseball and one day I inserted my way into their games by asking could I play.
Derrick, Craig, and Terrance taught me everything I know about how to play football and baseball. The best days were when I was picked first for the team and would hit a home run and one of The Boys would say aloud, "I told ya'll Kenia could hit!" The Boys Next Door taught me how to catch, hit, run the bases, and throw a football.
The Bible says a man who has friends must be friendly.
The Boys Next Door were friendly, kind, fun and always let me, a tomboy nerd, join in the games. We played across the street in the field for hours. Every day, I would watch from the kitchen window to see if they were outside and if one walked outside I would rush to run outside and ask, "Are ya'll playing today." I know they got tired of me! But Derrick always said yes. Often he would humor me by playing catch. After a while, it would get too hot and he would finally ssay, "Alright. I am going in." LOL!
The Boys Next Door never took it easy on me. One time, trying to catch a football, I ran head first into a tree. Derrick giggled and said, "You need to watch where you are running." I never made that mistake again!
I will never forget those childhood memories.
Recently, on Facebook, I wrote about being injured playing against middle school students who do not take it easy on me in basketball games. Derrick wrote, "We taught you to bring the pain not be in pain."
I will miss you Derrick.
Rest in Eternal Peace.
