Obituary

Willie Lee Maxwell (85), passed away peacefully on April 20, 2021 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, GA. Willie was born April 2, 1936. The first boy after five girls to Thomas and Rosa (Brown) Maxwell.

He attended Brooks County Schools. He was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness from October 28, 2001, to April 20, 2021, when he fell asleep in death. Willie left Brooks County in his late teens to settle in Rochester, NY. He worked several years at Strong Memorial Hospital where he met his wife Alverletta (Alfie) Reed in November 1958. They were married September 26, 1959. In 1965 Willie went to work for Eastman Kodak Co. He retired from Kodak and came back in 1993 to reside in Brooks County. Willie and Alfie had 3 children from 1965-1974.

Willie leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife, Alverletta (Alfie); his three children, William Howard, Sr. (Kim) Maxwell, Adrianne Irene Maxwell, and Aaron Paul (Leanna) Maxwell; his grandchildren, William H. Maxwell, Jr. (Tiara), LaToya Y., Kenya (David) Muse, Ormanee A. (Marcus) Mitchell, Keyon J. Maxwell, CJ Maxwell, Miles C. Maxwell, Layla Y. Maxwell; three great grandchildren, Riley Muse, William H. III, and Marcus; two brothers, Eddie L. (Willie Mae) Maxwell and James H. Maxwell; one sister, Maggie Logan; one sister-in-law, Shirley (Jerry) Maxwell; a special friend and their children, Willie and Jazz Williams, Reatha Diane Williams, Albert Williams, Veronica (Kenny) Wright, Leatrice Carter Maxwell, and Jackqueline (Craig) King; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Mr. Willie Lee Maxwell was preceded in death by both parents, Frankie Mae (Gene) English, Jannie Mae (Jimmy) Gosier, Josephine (Ruben) Malisham, Rosa Lee (George) Patterson, Thomas (Pearl) Maxwell, and Jerry Lee Maxwell.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 1PM at the Evelyn McGhee Repast Center. Limited seating will be available.
