On March 13, 2024 God called his angel home, Mrs. Vertis Ann Jones Paytee of Boston, Georgia. She was born December 6, 1945 to the late Ed and Flossie Mae Jones of Boston, Georgia.
She attended Barwick School sys-tem. She had a passion for helping people, spending most of her time babysitting her grandchildren and others in need. Vertis also enjoyed gardening, shopping and farming.
She was a sister to eight siblings, five in which are deceased: Ned Jones, Mary Jones, Quessie Mae Robinson, Frank Jones, Sarah Jones Wright, George Jones.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Susan Paytee; two grand-children, Octavia Paytee and Ladonna Paytee; and one great grandchild, Ciera Taylor.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories to her children, Mary Lovett (Johnny) of Boston, GA, Roger Paytee (Nompilo) of Boston, GA, Columbus Paytee of Thomasville, GA, Steve Paytee (Sheronda), Marcus Paytee, Joey Paytee, Todd Paytee of Boston, GA, Samantha Paytee and Sandra Paytee of Thomasville, GA; two living siblings, Doris Jones of Boston, GA and Hebert Jones of Thomasville, GA; 29 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 3-7PM.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11AM at New Deliverance Church, 1467 Dry Lake Road with Pastor Roger Paytee, officiating. Burial will follow in The Boston Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.
