Mrs. Vivian Hadley, 57
Sister Vivian Yolande Pye Hadley was born in Tallahassee, Florida on September 28, 1965, to the late Isiah Pye Sr and Ida Mae Reed Pye. In the early morning of Friday, September 8, 2023, Sister Vivian Yolande Pye Hadley, peacefully transitioned into eternal life surrounded by her beloved husband and daughters.
In 1971, Sister Vivian began her spiritual journey at The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles & Prophets Faith in Tallahassee, Florida. Upon hearing the Word of God preached by her uncle, Bishop Herman Reed, she repented and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost at 5 years old. Sister Vivian was an obedient child; she was very smart and excelled in many areas, including playing the piano like her father and some of her siblings. Sister Vivian graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1983, in Tallahassee, Florida.
As a young woman, Sister Vivian was determined, focused, prayerful, and maintained a strong desire for the Lord to order her steps. The Lord girded her with the strength of a virtuous woman. For over 15 years, she worked for Leon County School Board in Tallahassee, Florida in various positions that she enjoyed. In June 1989, Sister Vivian moved to Quitman, Georgia, and continued her strong work ethic as a remarkable cook and welcoming waitress at Renegade and Uncle Bill’s Restaurants.
Sister Vivian was a faithful member of The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles’ Doctrine under the leadership of Bishop William Hadley. After Bishop Hadley’s passing, she continued serving Jesus Christ under the leadership of Pastor John I. Hadley, who later became her beloved husband. Sister Vivian joyfully served the Lord as a keyboardist and choir member. Sister Vivian loved traveling to various cities and states to visit family, but especially to fellowship with the people of God. Her presence will be missed in Quitman and many other national fellowships where she praised God with uplifting songs, such as: “Jesus is a Waymaker”, “Power Lord”, “There is no failure in God”, “You Know Not the Hour When God is Going to Call you away”, “I Owe God a Praise”, and “After all I’ve been through, I still have joy!”
Sister Vivian took joy in helping those in need. In her days of full strength, she loved helping and caring for church mothers, including the Late Jessie Mae Solomon (her mother-in-law). She enjoyed supporting the youth and working in unity with the brothers and sisters of Quitman, who were also her special friends. Sister Vivian opened her mouth with wisdom and in her tongue the law of kindness spoke as she encouraged others in the ways of the Lord. We will cherish the memories of her warm smile and her thankfulness to God as she would state, “Another day, another blessing!!!”
On March 21, 1999, Sister Vivian, a virtuous woman, married the love of her life, Pastor John I. Hadley. She and Pastor John Hadley were blessed with three beautiful daughters: Hannah Yolanda, Sarah Elizabeth, and Naomi Wilma Hadley. Sister Vivian was so proud to be a loving, respectful wife to her husband and a nurturing mother to her daughters. She knew the needs of her household and did not eat the bread of idleness. She was an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed making beautiful clothing and accessories for her children and others. Sister Vivian was a graceful, meek woman who feared the Lord and worked gracefully with her hands. Sister Vivian was a beautiful woman, who dressed in modesty and dignity; wearing coverings of elegant tapestry that she made or that her daughters chose for her.
Sister Vivian fulfilled great successes in her home and also excelled in the City of Quitman as a successful entrepreneur. She was known to be a woman of faith, strength, and honor in the home, church, and in the gates of the city. She was proud to be the wife of a husband who is a successful businessman and a Pastor who preaches faith in Jesus Christ amongst the men of God in the land. She took pride in working alongside the Hadley, Lynch, and Shine Families in managing two businesses: Vivian’s Thrift Shop and The Seafood Market. As a virtuous woman, she knew her merchandise was good, and the heart of her husband did safely trust in her. On June 5, 2009, her virtuous works and business ethics at The Seafood Market were recognized in the local newspaper, Valdosta Daily Times.
Sister Vivian shined as a candlelight in seasons of difficulty just as she would in times of laughter and joy. For many years, Sister Vivian experienced many years of trials with her health, but she triumphed and did not complain or let her situations get her down. Sister Vivian taught their daughters from childhood how to pray and have faith in God. Her daughters were diligent in caring for her, vigilant in protecting her, and responsible in ensuring she made it not only to appointments but to the House of the Lord. In all that she endured, she did not let her fiery trials or tribulations define her: She counted it all joy! She persevered! She remained steadfast, unmovable, as she abounded in the work of the Lord! Sister Vivian was married to her husband for 24 years and remained faithful as a devoted wife and a compassionate, understanding, loving mother to her beautiful daughters until her last breath on Friday, September 8, 2023.
Sister Vivan was proceeded in death by her parents, Isiah Pye, Sr. and Ida Mae Reed Pye; and her siblings: Angelin Pye Gilliam, Chausa Lee Pye-Frasier, Sonja Pye, Ernest Leo Pompey, Sr., Isiah Pye, Jr., Jermone Pye, Fletcher Pye, Robbie Pye, Arthur James Pye, and David Copeland.
Sister Vivian’s love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of her husband, Pastor John I. Hadley, and her children Hannah Yolanda, Sarah Elizabeth, and Naomi Wilma of Quitman, GA. Her sisters, Jeradine Pye Henry, Mattie Pye DuPayne, Gwendolyn Pye (Bishop John Larry Butler), Bette Pye (Pierce) Washington, and Joanne (Dwight) Walton, all of Tallahassee, FL.
