Obituary For Matthew Jones

Matthew Jones was born July 23, 1987 in Hollywood, Florida to Mr. Levon Jones and Mrs. Gloria Dynese Jones. He was raised in Pembroke Pines, Florida and he attended the Broward County School system. He graduated from Flannigan High School in Pembroke Pines, Florida. He loved to collect Yugioh cards and baseball cards. He loved going to the mall and going to different restaurants. He was fun loving and a joy to be around.

He resided in Esther’s Group Home in Miami Gardens, Florida from 2009 until 2018. Esther Delva was the owner and operator. He loved Ms. Esther and remained very fond of her. Afterwards, he resided in Genesis Group Home in Quincy, Florida until his passing. Anthony Matthews and his wife Mary Matthews are the owners and operators. He was very fond of the Matthews Family.

He passed from this earthly life on Saturday, April 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother Mrs. Gloria Dynese Jones as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents and a special, devoted caretaker that he called Granny, Ms. Bernestine Sims. He leaves to mourn but cherish his memories, his loving and devoted father Mr. Levon Jones, Valdosta, GA; his sister Libby T. Holmes, Quitman, GA; niece Christy Elizabeth Holmes; nephew Devon Malik Holmes; uncles Jerome Sirmans (Gloria), Quitman, GA, Jeffery Sirmans, Quitman, GA, Leon Jones (Mary), Barney, GA; aunts Jossie Taylor (William), Willingboro, NJ, Linda Ann Thomas, Cambridge, MD; a loving step grandfather Joe Herbert Wolfe; special great aunts and uncles Mrs. Mable Robinson and Mr. Ervin Robinson, Mr. Jimmy Christian and Mrs. Sally Christian, Mr. Walter “Pee Wee” Christian, Mrs. Hannah Reen King and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Home going service will be Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 11AM at the Stevens-McGhee chapel with Rev. J.B. Miller, officiating. Burial will follow in Old Beulah Hill Cemetery.
