Deloris Gray was the 10th child of 13 children. Born June 24, 1961 to the late LeRoy Gray, Sr. and Eliza Thompkins Gray.
At an early age, she joined Second Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Brooks County. Later in life, she was added to the body of Christ and became a member of West Hill Church of Christ, Valdosta, GA where she served faithful until her health began to fail.
Deloris attended the Brooks County School System and graduated with the Class of 1979. She was employed for many years at Week Textile in Quitman, a Manufacturing Company. She was currently employed by Coastal Plains of Valdosta, GA as a Community Outreach Worker. She also attended Wiregrass Technical College, Valdosta, GA, and graduated with degrees in Child-Care Development, Computer Technology, and Administrative Assisting.
Deloris was a shining light. Everywhere she went, she lit up the room with her sense of humor. She loved family gatherings and was filled with love and laughter. She was a good listener, a leader and very loyal. Deloris had a huge heart, so she decided to become a foster parent. She was a foster parent to several children.
Deloris leaves to cherish her memories two (2) daughters, Marquita Reynolds and Takia Copeland, both of Valdosta, GA; one (1) son, Nickaeligha Gray, Valdosta, GA; four (4) brothers, Jimmy (Virginia) Gray, Leon Gray, Sr., Larry Gray, and DeWayne (Valerie) Gray, all of Valdosta, GA; two (2) sisters, Rosa (Jerry) Sanders of Valdosta, GA and Betty Gray of Quitman, GA; two (2)brothers-in-law, Jack Holmes of Quitman, GA and Calvin Troupe, Sr. of Valdosta, GA; one (1) sister-in-law, Minnie Gray Hallman; grandchildren, Quadarious Byrdsong-R’moni, Azaria Taveon Reynolds-Shy’quenzi, Taveon, Jr., Taylin, Zamarea Reynolds-Zy’meir, Vinesha Jenkins, Malik Jenkins, King Reynolds, Ky’ree Reynolds, Keyun Copeland, Keyshun Copeland and Kaleb Copeland; great-grandchildren; special nieces as sisters, Jackie Holmes and Cheryl Holmes, special nephew as a brother, James Holmes, Sr.; special friends whom she called sisters, Louise Clark, Bernice Ponder and Addie Gay; a dear friend, Carl Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy Gray, Sr. and Eliza Gray; sisters, Mattie L. Troupe, Rachel Holmes and Joan Gray; brothers, Eddie J. Gray, Sr., LeRoy Gray, Jr., and Raymond L. Gray.
