The Obituary

Charles Edward Wright was born to the late Charlie W. Wright, Sr. and Corene C. Wright on August 6, 1954 in Brooks County, Georgia. Charles was the fifth child to be born of seven sons.

At an early age, Charles accepted Christ and became a member of Elam Missionary Baptist Church. Charles attended the Brooks County School system. After graduating from high school, Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force. After three years of serving, he returned home with an honorable discharge.

Charles was united in holy matrimony with his high school sweetheart, Tanger. To this union, they welcomed three children.Charles also has a daughter from a previous relationship.

Charles is preceded in death by his father, Charlie; his wife, Tanger; his brother, Varnel and his son, Anthony Wright.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Mrs. Corene C. Wright, of Quitman, GA; one son, Timothy (Marcy) Wright of Valdosta, GA; two daughters, Lakeisha Turner of Hinesville, GA and Chandra (Keith) Wright of Dixie, GA; one daughter-in-law, Latisha Wright of Quitman, GA; fifteen grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; five brothers, Charlie Wright, Jr. (Judy) of Apopka, FL, Alfred (Cathy) Wright of Decatur, GA, Ernest Wright of Atlanta, GA, Jerome Wright of Hampton, VA and Eldridge Wright, Sr. of Quitman, GA; two sisters, Eddie Davis and Alene Minor of Quitman, GA; seven aunts, Iza Coleman of Tifton, GA, Armetta Coleman of Quitman, GA, Linda (Alonzo) of Lakeland, FL, Lena Coleman of Hollywood, FL, Theresa Anderson of Tifton, GA, Dorothy Lively of Quitman, GA and Marion Minor of Quitman, GA. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 2PM-7PM.

Home going service will be Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 3PM at Beulah MB Church with Rev. Elzie Staten, officiating. Burial will follow in North End Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.
