The Life of Calvin James Williams
The Life of Reverend Calvin J. Williams began in a rural, yet proud African American Community, in Brooks County, Georgia located on Dry Lake Rd. This farming community boasted of landowners, entrepreneurs, and educators.
On (August 6, 1951) Calvin Williams was born to the Late Oscar and Maurice Lane-Williams. To this union, four children were born: Dorothy, Harold,
Calvin, and one child preceded him in death.
Calvin’s matriculation was nurtured and developed within Brooks County Public School System. In (1970), he graduated from Washington High School. He furthered his education by pursuing a degree in Divinity from Carver Bible College in Atlanta, Ga. Inspired to further develop his educational pursuit, he enrolled in Gupton Jones Mortuary School in Atlanta, GA; he graduated with a degree in Mortuary Science.
While residing in Atlanta, Ga., he worked with various funeral Homes within the Atlanta area to include Historical Hanley’s Funeral Home and Seller’s Brothers Funeral Home.
His professional career also included a career within the Nursing Field. In this field, he was employed for several years at Hugh Spaulding and Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
Calvin had a strong infinity with music, particularly the piano. He lent his talent towards other churches where played the piano for several church services in the community.
Later in life, he met and married Mrs. Dora Williams. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born: Nicole and Camille Williams. His former wife, proceed him in death.
Nevertheless, he leaves fond memories and laughs with his beloved family.
His siblings include Dorothy (Edsel) Collins, of Blackshear, Ga.; the Late Benjamin Harold Williams (Carol) of Upper Marlboro, MD, and LaGenia Stewart of Alma, Ga.
His nephews and nieces include Stephon Collins, of Jacksonville, Florida, Tiffiny Nicole Williams of Kansas, City Kansas, Anthony Collins of Albany, Ga., Kismet Hubbard of Upper Marlboro, M.D. and many cousins and friends.
A cherished friendship with Marshall Hall.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Stevens-McGhee Chapel from 12PM-7PM.
Home going service will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Simmon Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 2PM with Rev. James Huewitt, Pastor and Dr. Rev. Booker T. Rose, Jr., officiating. Continue to pray along with the family during this time.
Our lives were touched by Rev. Williams. He was so knowledgeable and caring. I had the pleasure of knowing for many years. We would converse daily. Each time we would review scriptures. His favorite book was Ecclesiastics. This brother was joy to everyone's life. May he rest in PEACE.
