The Memories of Barbara Jean Samuel-Sneed
Barbara Jean Samuel-Sneed, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on January 21, 2024 at 65 years old. She was born on March 24, 1958, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late Johnnie Mae Samuel and Issac Nathaniel Lee Samuel. Barbara was raised in Boston GA, where she formed lasting bonds and cherished memories.
Barbara was married to Lewis Sneed, Sr., and from their union, five children were born; Anthony Samuel, Tameka Samuel-Smith (Carlos), Lewis Sneed, Chrystal Sneed, and Henry James Sneed (Kera). She was a dedicated and loving mother, providing unwavering support and guidance to her children throughout their lives.
Barbara is survived by all five children, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength. Her 12 grandchildren, Denise, Brandesha, Ka'Mari, Tyroneack, Zamaryia, Jamel, Nakeisha, Tyrone, Tynina, Jordyn, Logan, and Carrie, as well as her four great-grandchildren, Bra'Lynn, Blake, Kaydince, and Bryson, will forever carry the warmth of her love in their hearts.
A caring and nurturing grandmother to many other children. Barbara's love extended beyond her immediate family. She is also survived by 11 siblings, two god-daughters, Chelsea and Kimberly, and one god-sister, Lou Stephens.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, Christine and Francis, son-in-law Carlos Smith, and three grandchildren, Zhyria, Neveah, and Tamia. Additionally, her longtime companion, Wallace Cason, preceded her in the journey beyond.
Barbara dedicated many years of her life as a faithful employee of Dillions Candy Co. until her diagnosis with breast cancer in 2008. Despite facing this challenging battle, her strength and resilience was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Barbara was also a devout member of Richland Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith shone brightly until her sunset.
Known for her warm smile, kind heart and nurturing spirit. Barbara was loved by many and will be truly missed. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
Visitation will be Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 4PM-7PM.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Trinity MB Chuch in Boston, GA with Rev. Mathis, officiating. Burial will follow in the Boston Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.
