Mr. Stepney Cowart, Jr., was born May 9, 1957 in Lake Park, GA to the late Stepney and Eva Lee Cowart.
At a very young age, Stepney accepted Christ and joined the Hosanna Baptist Church. He was educated in the Valdosta City School System. After graduation from high school, Stepney entered the United States Marines Corps and received an honorable discharge. He worked for UPS.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stepney and Eva Lee Cowart; two brothers, Stanley Cowart and Willie James Cowart; three sisters, Addie Mae Roe, Delia Ann Smith and Pamela Cowart.
On Sunday, December 11, 2022 at South Georgia Medical Center, Stepney was granted eternal rest.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife, Eula Cowart of Thomasville, GA; four sisters, Mary L. Faulk (Marvin), Eleanor Holmes (Benjamin), Evelyn Massey all of Valdosta, GA and Shelia Brown (James) of Jacksonville, FL; one sister-in-law, Jeannette Cowart of Valdosta, GA; three special cousins, Dea. Christopher Burgman (Tracie), Erma Jean Corbett and Bill Corbett; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The celebration of life service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 3835 Whitewater Road, Valdosta, GA 31601. Dr. Charles E. Vinson, Sr., pastor, Pastor Benjamin Holmes, officiating. Burial will follow at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL 32311.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until funeral service at the church.
