Obituary For Mamie Breeden

A Time to be Born:

Mamie Marshall Breeden, 75, was born on December 28, 1947, to George Marshall, Sr. and Georgia Marshall in Valdosta, GA.

A Time to Die:

On Thursday, August 31, 2023, while resting at her home, Mamie heard her Saviour’s voice as she received her victorious promise in Jesus Christ. She gained her heavenly wings and took her flight to be absent from the body and to forever be in the presence of the Lord.

Mamie was educated in the Valdosta City School system.

Mamie was a loving and faithful wife and help meet to the love of her life, Charles Breeden, for over 44 years. Although Charles and Mamie had no children of their own; she continually exhibited motherly love and divine guidance for her nieces, nephews and all young people who crossed her path.

Mamie found the answer to all of life’s challenges decades ago; she gave her life to the Lord and became the vessel of love who was always willing to be used by God. Mamie loved everybody. Her meek and gentle spirit drew her to people and drew people to her. She thoroughly enjoyed serving God and his people and worked in God’s ministry as a private sitter and elderly care assistant. Her job was her ministry.

Additionally, Mamie dedicated her life to various ministries in the church. She was a proud member of Morning Star Baptist Church where she was dutifully involved in the Kitchen Ministry, the Circle #1 Ministry, and the Sanctuary Choir.

Mamie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Georgia Marshall, Sr.; her siblings and their spouses, Helen McCutchen, Eddie Boykins, Mary and Willie McCutchen, Eva Pearl Martin, Willie Jones, Sr., Joseph and Sue Ann Baker, Oscar and Annie Marshall and George Marshall.

Mamie leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate her life to her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Charles Breeden; her brother, Ronnie (Martha) Marshall Gray, her special nieces, Joann Turner, Helen McCutchen and Mary Ann McCutchen; her in-laws, Ronnie (Wanda) Tookes, Francine Henderson, Catherine (Charles) Carter, James (Mary) Breeden, Alfonso (Lola) Breeden, Gwendolyn (Larry) Rodgers, Gwenevere Gary, Gail (Earl) White, Deborah (Kenneth) Anderson and Alton (Sharon) Breeden; her adopted niece, Gwen Cloud; her special friends, Jesse Willis, Jean Bradley, Verdell Hall, and Anita Gosier; her brothers-in-love, Larry Copeland and Herman Alston and her countless nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the Morning Star Baptist Church Family.

Mamie’s final words to us: “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8

The celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Morning Star Baptist Church, 1051 Howell Road, Valdosta, GA 31601. Rev. Naaman Hooker, pastor, Dr. William C. Morgan, officiating. Burial will follow at Pallbearers Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
