Mother Lucille Larry Williams was born in Attapulgus, GA on July 13, 1934 to the late Mr. Josh Larry and Mrs. Symete Gaines Larry. She was raised in Asbury Park, New Jersey and graduated from Asbury Park High School. She was a graduate of the accredited St. Mary School of Nursing in Roswell, New Mexico where she received her LPN degree.
Mother Williams experience with God began at the age of seven in the Church of God in Christ in Asbury Park, New Jersey. She served under the leadership of Elder J. W. Simon, Pastor. While yet a teenager, she was filled with the Holy Ghost and began to go forth in her teaching ministry. In her local church, she worked as the Secretary of the Sunday School Department and Bible Band, President of the Sunshine Band and founded a group called the Rose Buds which consisted of fifteen girls.
Mother Williams migrated to Sacramento, California in 1970 and remained faithful to God. There she connected herself to the Reid Temple COGIC under Elder Reid, Pastor. She was the President of the District Young Women Christian Council.
As she returned to the State of Georgia in 1973, she reconnected herself to New Jerusalem COGIC under the leadership of Superintendent P.E. Hayes, Pastor. She was appointed by State Supervisor Mother Amanda Johnson as the President of the State Sunshine Band. In 1991, she was appointed as the State Evangelist to work in the interest of the Southern Part of the Jurisdiction.
In 1974, Mother Williams began the first Vacation Bible School at New Jerusalem COGIC Attapulgus, Georgia, the first Senior Citizen Bible Class and held many church and in home prayer groups. From 1980-1991, she became the first lady of the State Y.P.W.W. Department of the Southern Georgia Jurisdiction. In 1982, she founded and organized the first Preacher Wives group in Valdosta, Georgia.
Mother Williams was united in marriage to Elder Bartow Williams, Sr., on April 5, 1980 and resided in Valdosta, Georgia. She was blessed through this marriage with eleven children. As she marched forward on this Christian journey, she alongside with her husband, Elder Bartow Williams, Sr. started Faith Tabernacle Mission COGIC in August of 1985 where she served as the First Lady of the Church and Mother of the Church. Under the leadership of Elder Bartow Williams, Sr., Pastor and the Faith Tabernacle COGIC began an Outreach Ministry Bible Class at Valdosta State College for four years. Furthermore, she taught the students the History of the Churches of God In Christ during Black History Month at Valdosta State College for two years. Mother Williams has conducted seminars, workshops and various speaking engagements. She has held many positions in the Kingdom of God; the greatest part was her Pure Love of God that she shared.
Mother Williams received her Missionary licenses under the following leaders: From 1971-72, New Jersey, Bishop Courtney and Mother A.L. Bailey, State Supervisor; 1972-73, Sacramento, California, Bishop Stewart and Mother E.M. Deves, State Supervisor, 1974-75, State of Georgia, Bishop C.H. Hicks and Mother Artie B. McBride, State Supervisor; and 1976-2002, Bishop C.H. Hicks and Mother Amanda Johnson, State Supervisor.
On Friday morning, June 26, 2020, God looked around His garden and found an empty place; He then looked down upon the earth and saw Lucille’s precious face. He put His arms around her and lifted her unto eternal rest.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josh and Symete Larry; her brother, Randolph Holt; her children, Sister Mary Davis, Sister Gloria Simmons and Elder Ira Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Elder Bartow Williams, Sr.; eight children, Shirley Franklin, Kaleda Allen (John), Bartow Williams, Jr. (Minnie), Deborah Demps (Bernard), Jearl Williams (Evelina), Earl Williams (Andrea), Sharlotte Jackson (Glen) and Sharon Renee Warren (Charles); daughter-in-law, Barbara Williams; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held Saturday, July 4, 2020 from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
