Ms. Lena Virginia Rhym was born August 18, 1955 in Valdosta, GA to the late Mr. Wallace Rhym, Sr. and Mrs. Alma Hall Rhym.
Lena was educated in the Lowndes County Public School System. She was employed at the Fellowship Nursing Home until her health failed. Lena had a heart of gold, was a country girl at heart, talked very loud with a smile on her face and never met a stranger.
On Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Lakehaven Nursing Home, Lena slept into eternal rest.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Rhym, Sr. and Alma Rhym; three brothers, Ruben Rhym, Robert Rhym and Dennis Rhym, Sr.; one sister, Martha Rhym.
Lena leaves to cherish her memories to her children, Alma Rhym of Valdosta, GA and James Hawkins (Latrelle) of Blackshear, GA; two sisters, Vera L. Rhym and Jessica Boyd both of Valdosta, GA; one brother, Wallace Rhym, Jr. (Wanda) of Valdosta, GA; one uncle, Gardner Williams, Jr. (Nadine) of Sanford, FL; a devoted friend of 35 years, Danny Roy Aikens of Madison, FL; three stepchildren, Jennifer Aikens, Tony Aikens (Tasha) and Antwan Gent; special friends, Brenda Carter, Patricia Williams, the family of Reatha Williams, the Simmons and the Griffin Families; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Public viewing will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
