Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Antwan Robert Mais, age 31, of Pompano Beach, Florida passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. We request your prayers for the family and friends at this time...
SERVICE: Saturday, October 14, 2023 11:00AM located at Premier Funeral Services Chapel 3889 Powerline Road Oakland Park, Florida 33309
Antwan Robert Mais was born on January 22,1992 in Broward County, Florida, to Karen Brown and Robert Mais.
As a child Antwan was a mama's boy, She could not go anywhere without having him by her side. Antwan, his mother and sister always had a close bond. They traveled and moved around a lot the three of them always had each other so wherever they went they never felt alone.
Antwan attended many schools growing up, but the most impactful ones were Lauderdale Middle and Boyd Anderson High where he met most of his closest peers. Antwan briefly lived in Brooklyn, New York, where he trained in Boxing and did so well that he qualified for the Junior Olympics. Which was one of his proudest childhood moments. As an adult he became an entrepreneur having owned and operating his car wash business. Where we employed and mentored several young men.
Antwan was truly an artist in every way, from his love for music, recording and writing his own songs, to drawing and painting and also doing tattoos. He could not just go out looking regular he had an amazing fashion sense, he was always one of the best dressed when he would walk into a room. The way he carried himself would make heads turn and have people wonder who that guy was because he always looked like a star.
To those who did not know him he may have come off as slightly intimidating but that was far from the truth. Antwan was a pleasant person always smiling or laughing and he could light up a room with the good bright energy he had. His love for his family and friends could not not overshadow the love that he had more than anything else.
He exuded a warmth that made people gravitate to him, he had a following of admirers as he deported himself admirably. He was the friend everyone valued because he was loyal, kind, loving and an inspiration of goodness to everyone he met. He would help when he could, he was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back and be sure to uplift and motivate those that were in his circle.
Antwan died tragically on September 10, 2023. He is survived by his Mother Karen Brown, his sister Anakay Atland, Grandparents Mildred Powell, Gloria Wilson and Clifton Brown, his Nephew Ayeden Lawrence, Uncle Carlton Hutton, Julian Mais Sidney Reid, Aunt’s Delna Beckford, Claudette White, Lorraine Reid and other family members and many friends.
Although Antwan has left his earthly form there is no doubt that his spiritual form is now at peace. He left a huge impact on everyone that will forever be felt.
He will always be with us in spirit and in our hearts.
