” The Righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are Blessed after him.” Proverbs 20:7 On April 2, 1943 Maurice Eugene Mickens was born to the late Earl and Irene Ballard. What a wonderful, amazing person, Maurice, with such a remarkable life. I felt like I was part of the family for many, many years. Working alongside him at MCCDC was a learning experience, and I am still using much of what he taught me over the years. We will not be the same without Maurice, a friend indeed. I know we'll find comfort in each other and get through this time in our lives. Maurice's bright shining personality will live on in our hearts even as we celebrate his life and mourn his passing. He left his legacy with Clearwater, FL: plays, skits, helping the children in the afterschool program at Mt. Carmel and the community, and so much more. He made a difference in so many lives. Peace, healing prayers and comforting hugs. In our thoughts and prayers, Carmen.
My friend Maurice, thank you for the mentoring and leadership that you provided in having trust and confidence in me with the community and spiritual work. God has truly sent a guiding light to us all. Words can't describe the positive impact you have left with us. Michael Fauntleroy, neighbor and mentee.
