Obituary For Ms. Cynthia Denise Flowers

Silently God whispered, “Come, for today you are the chosen one.” A precious gift from God, Cynthia Denise Flowers left her loving family and friends and passed on to her Heavenly reward on Wednesday, November 16th.

Born January 22,1964, in Anson County, NC, to Haze and Bessie Flowers, Necie was the youngest of six children. She joined Gatewood Station A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age, and like all her siblings, took part in church programs, sang in the choir, attended Vacation Bible School, and was ready each Sunday morning to recite a Bible verse.

Necie graduated from Bowman Senior High School in Wadesboro, NC, where she played in the band and was a majorette and cheerleader. After high school she earned a BS Degree in Business Administration from Winston Salem State University. She loved writing poetry, painting, Motown music, General Hospital – and family. She was the creative spark in the Haze and Bessie Flowers family.

Necie moved to Raleigh, NC, married, and joined New Revelation Church. Working for God’s Kingdom was important to her all of her earthly life. She fully understood the promise of Philippians 4:7 which declares that “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard [our] hearts and [our] minds in Christ Jesus.” Whatever the circumstance, Necie was a constant reminder to her family that God provides love to bind us and truth to sustain us.

Left to continue her legacy of love and hope in Christ are two daughters - Brittany Rankin (Robert) and Alexis Daniels, and one stepson, Dante’ Penny; three sisters - Bettye Herring, Deborah Davis (Willie), and Andre’ Mayes; two brothers - Haze Flowers, Jr. (Joyce) and Kenneth Flowers (LaPonda); four grandchildren - Lena Rankin, Kayden and Kayleigh Penny, and Omari Henry; one nephew, Matthew Herring; three nieces - Joi Thomas (Brian), Shawnda Correa (Daniel), and Erin Flowers; three great nieces - Rebecca and Sydney Thomas, and London Correa; three God-children - Shari McNeill, LeGrant Montgomery, and Haven Armstrong; and a loving bouquet of family and friends.

“Sweet Necie,” as her siblings called her, was a rose in the Flowers Garden. She represented the best in us and in His Kingdom and lived her faith daily, even in declining health. The rugged beauty of her transition to everlasting life emphasized the truth of Revelation 21:4, that “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” She was convinced (Romans 8:38-39), “that neither death nor life . . . angels nor demons . . . nor any powers, . . . will be able to separate us from the love of God . . . .” Rest well as you wait for us, Sweet Necie. We will continue to love each other unconditionally until we meet again.

The Homegoing Celebration will be on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be the Flowers Family of the Gatewood Station AME Zion Church Cemetery, Morven, North Carolina.

The public viewing will be on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 11:30am-12:30pm.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Flowers family will not receive visitors at the home, except for family.
