The earthly life of Mrs. Bernice Clark Colson came to a close on Friday, May 20, 2022 while a patient at Atrium Health Cabarrus, Concord, North Carolina.
She was born to the late Herman and Bertha Brewer Clark on May 9, 1934 in Stanly County, North Carolina. She attended school in Stanly and Anson Counties.
She was one of eleven children of which either preceded her in death: Leroy Clark, Alfred Judge Clark, Herman Clark, Jr., Joe Lewis Clark, Margaret Clark Ingram, Mac Arthur Clark, Patrice Clark Townsend and Jonathan Clark.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Robert Colson. This union was blessed with four children. The late Dwight and Donnie Colson whom both preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories three daughters: Westra Colson (Johnnie), Albemarle, NC, Teresa Colson (Johnnie), Norwood, NC and Angel Davis (Edward), Roxboro, NC; a proclaimed son, Franklin Larry Clark (Claudine), Virginia; eleven grandchildren: Brian Colson, DeMarco Colson, Gavin Colson (Chermaine), Caelyn Davis, Dwan Duncan, Dwight Duncan, Ricky Colson, Donnie Colson, Jr., Robert Colson, Morocco Colson and Lamar Gould; twenty-one great grandchildren, Gavin, Jr., DeMarco, Jr., Million, Jaylin, Jada, DeMessiah, Coullen, Carter, Muhammad, J’Bria, A’Brielle, Braxton, Brian, Jr., Rocco Colson, Lamarion Gould, Kaylee and Larry, Jr., Aaliyah Duncan, Bella Duncan, Michael Duncan;, Aaleah Lindsey; sister, Nadena Clark and brother, James Thomas Clark of Thomasville, NC; step brothers, Alexander Dumas (Ruby), Arizona, Russell Dumas (Barbara), Greensboro, NC; step sisters, Nan Boggan (Fletcher) and Sylvia Leake both of Mount Gilead, NC; aunts, Leola Clark, Norwood, NC, Betty Smith, Detroit, MI, Sarah Clark, Oakboro, NC, Mattie Clark, Ansonville, NC; sisters-in-law, Creola Clark and Pamela Clark both of Norwood, NC and Marie Clark, Albemarle, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A special friend, Mrs. Martha Ann Ledbetter; Caretaker, Denise Watkins.
The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, May 28, 2022, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of the Bennettsville AME Zion Church Cemetery, Norwood, North Carolina.
The public viewing for Mrs. Colson will be on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 4:00-6:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina 28170.
Face Mask/Coverings are required to be worn.
