MR. WILLIAM TYRONE HILL
Mr. William (Bill) Hill, 76 years of age, was born September 26, 1944 to the late Mrs. Ruth Hill Tynes and Mr. David Tynes Sr. of Smithfield, Virginia. He departed this life on March 24, 2021 at Novant Health-Matthews Medical Center, Matthews, NC after a brief illness. One brother, Andrew Lee Tynes of Smithfield, Virginia, preceded him in death.
He confessed Christ at an early age at Hill Street Baptist Church, Smithfield, Virginia. Bill attended South Phoenix Baptist Church, Phoenix, Arizona. He later joined Greater Salem-The Connecting Place in Charlotte, NC where he was an active member and member of the Missionary Ministry. His present home church West Rocky Ford Missionary Baptist Church, Wadesboro, NC where Pastor Lennon Parson, Sr. served as his Senior Leader.
Bill attended Westside High School in Isle of Wright County, Smithfield, Virginia. He later enlisted in the US Army where he spent 2 years serving his country. He was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA and at Ft. Lee, VA. He received an honorable discharge for his service and then spent approximately 8 years in the National Guard. Bill briefly attended Northern Virginia Community College, Annadale, VA and during his time in Arizona, he attended Maricopa Community College.
Bill worked for the Federal Government on different assignments: U.S. Postal Service Cameron Station, GSA at The Pentagon and Luke Air Force Base, Glendale, Arizona. He was a good worker and was always loved by his Co-workers.
Bill was united in marriage to Barbara Leak Hill in 1968. They were married over 15 years and to their union two children were born. Bill and Barbara always remained good friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories, Barbara Leak Hill of Polkton, NC; one daughter, Mrs. Kim Hill Black and one son, William Darrell Hill both of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter/daughter, Shantea Hill of Charlotte, NC; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two brothers, David Tynes, Jr. (Ta) of Woodbridge, Virginia and James Walter Tynes (Vanessa); one sister, Mrs. Mary Tynes Mason (Earl) of Stafford, VA; mother-in-law, Mrs. Cledora Leak Tillman of Polkton, NC; sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary Tillman Parker of Polkton, NC, Martha Nivens (Alvin) of Lilesville, NC, Barbara Faye Harris (Richard) of Lilesville, NC, Diane Tillman (Bernard) of Charlotte, NC, Deborah Tillman (Bobby) of Marshville, NC, Elizabeth Kersey (Marion) of Polkton, NC, Mildred Tillman of Ft. Mill, SC and Nathaniel Tillman of Polkton, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Services were held on Monday, March 29, 2021, 12:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be private.
