To everything there is a season. A time to be born and a time to die, and so it was with our beloved Mr. William Nelson Liles, the son of the late Edmond and Ruth Hubbard Liles. To many of his friends, he was known to them as “Nelson.” He was born on June 6, 1946 in Anson County, North Carolina.
Nelson was educated in the Anson County School System. He was a graduate of Henry Grove High School, Class of 1965. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army. Nelson received an Associate Degree in Engineering from South Piedmont Community College, located in Anson County. He retired from Aeroquip in Norwood, North Carolina and was a faithful employee of Smith Funeral Home for over fifty (50) years.
He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Gatewood Station African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. He was a devout member who gave his life and service to his church where he served on many committees. He was a loving and caring brother. He inspired us all in his lovable and unselfish manner. He believed in family and the unity of love. He was a strong person that embellished life and lived it to the fullest. He will be deeply missed.
