MR. RICHARD HENRY LITTLE
Richard Henry Little was the eighth child born to the late William and Sadie Little on April 13, 1942 in Wadesboro, N.C. He departed this life on October 27, 2016 at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center, Midlothian, Virginia. Richard grew up in a Christian home. He was a member of West Rocky Ford Baptist Church, Wadesboro, N.C., and was a member of the choir. Richard attended East Polkton High School, and was a member of the school band (playing the trumpet), played basketball, was a member of the coral club, and participated in other activities of the school. Upon graduating in 1961, Richard relocated to New York. He worked at Stadium View Inn, Flushing, New York, and later at Grumman Air Craft, Long Island, New York. He was employed by New York Transit Authority, working his way up from a laborer to car maintenance inspector. He retired after many years of service. Richard married his childhood sweetheart, Mamie Wiggins, who preceded him in death, and to this union two children were born, Jeffrey Little and Keisha Little. Richard also had a longtime companion, Katherine Andrews, who preceded him in death in Orange Park, Florida. Two sisters and two brothers preceded Richard in death. He leaves to cherish his beautiful and comical memories, three children: Jeffrey Little (Kellye), Keisha Little and Richaun Little. One adopted daughter, Ashley Little. Nine grandchildren; Janae’, Chaniyah, Charys, Shakia, Richie, Troy, Johnathon, Samantha and Mandi. Three sisters: Marie Chambers (Willie), Kannapolis, N.C., Effie Hill (Willard), Harrisburg, N.C. and Ollie Martin, Kannapolis, N.C.; three brothers, Joe Little (Daisy), Fayetteville, N.C., Robert Little (Karen) Philadelphia, Pa., and Alexander Little (Cora) Charlotte, N.C.; a mother–in-law, Mrs. Vylean Wiggins, Wadesboro, N.C. Three sisters-in-law, Shirley Little, Hamlet, N.C., Mildred Sturdivant and Carol Ford (Charles) of Wadesboro, N.C. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, schoolmates, family and friends who will miss him dearly. Eulogistic Services will be on Friday, November 4, 2016, 11:00am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Burial will follow in Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
