Obituary For Mr. Neal Colon Briggs Jr.

Neal Colon Briggs Jr was born on December 21, 1944 in Maxton, NC to the late Neal C Briggs Sr. and the late Amanda Louise Gibson Briggs. Neal departed this life at his residence on Saturday, October 23, 2021.

Neal attended Capitol Highway School and graduated from Monroe Avenue High School in Hamlet, NC in 1962. As a child he attended New Bethel AME Zion Church.

After graduating high school, Neal moved to New Jersey. He was employed at Gimbels Department Store at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ as a chef in the cafeteria for many years until the store closed and later worked for the City of Paterson Department of Public Works as a driver for 16 years. Neal returned back to Hamlet, North Carolina in August 2014. Neal was a hard worker and loved sports. He was a NY Giants and NY Mets fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Mithford Briggs, Amanda Jeanette Thompson and Billy Briggs.

He leaves to cherish loving memories with his brother, Larry D. Briggs of Hamlet, NC, aunts, Ada Campbell of Hampton, VA, Mary Briggs of Paterson, NJ, and Cindy Briggs of Maxton, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
