Obituary For Mr. Eric Lee Walton

Eric Lee Walton (Mookie), son of the late Robert Lee Walton and Mondru Ledbetter Walton was born April 26, 1973 in Anson County, NC. God saw fit to pluck a beautiful flower from His garden, Sunday, March 3, 2024.

He attended the public schools of Anson. County. He was a hard worker at Perdue Farms, Rockingham, NC where he stayed until he had to step away.

“Mookie” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends had many striking traits that touched many lives as he passed this way. It is always difficult saying goodbye to loved ones. He lived each moment to the fullest: always giving, always caring, always loving and joking and talking junk. It is in these things that Eric’s memory will live. WE LOVE him but God LOVES him best.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Walton; brother, Robert “Big Rob” Walton; his grandparents, Georgianna Ledbetter, Vernon and Ailene Liles; aunts, Rozetter and Annie Belle; uncles, Paul, Dude, Curtis Jr., Vernon Jr., Larry and Warren.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Mondru Walton of the home; one sister, Bridget (Stephonie) Rorie of the home; one niece, Britney Smith of the home and one nephew, Darius Rorie of the home; two nieces, Whitney Walton and Whitley Smith; one nephew, Reginald Dunlap; one great niece, Loyalty Smith; two great nephews, De’Rashun Watkins and Justin Smith (Baby J) who always asked, “Where’s Mookie?” and went to his room to sit with him while Mookie gave two cookies a day; eleven (11) aunts and six (6) uncles all of Wadesboro, NC; a special cousin, Marlon Liles who was more like a brother to Mookie; a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Eric's Life and Legacy will be on Saturday, March 9, 2024, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

The Walton Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 12:30-1:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel and at all other times at the family residence.
