MR. ANTHONY RAY SMITH

Anthony Ray (Buck) Smith Sr., born January 3, 1957 to the late Mattie Smith and Terry Ledbetter departed this life Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:45am at Atrium Health-Stanly, Albemarle, North Carolina. He attended Stanly County Public Schools, graduating in 1975 from South Stanly High School, Norwood, North Carolina. Anthony was employed at C&A Mills in Norwood, North Carolina for a number of years. He confessed Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church in Norwood, North Carolina. He leaves to cherish fond memories two children: one son, Anthony Ray Smith Jr. and one daughter, Sanaaya Spinks of the home. One sister, Sandra Ledbetter of Norwood, North Carolina; two brothers, Terry D. Ledbetter (Donetta) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Michael A. Ledbetter (Tabrena) of Hubert, North Carolina. A special mother, Martha Ledbetter of Norwood, North Carolina; four uncles, Joe Fred (Catherine) Ledbetter of Albemarle, North Carolina, Henry Smith (Sharon) of Jackson Springs, North Carolina, Albert Smith (Kate) and Marshall Smith (Mae) of Ellerbe, North Carolina; four aunts, Rosa Capel of Candor, North Carolina, Sylvia Martin of Biscoe, North Carolina, Onza K. Colson and Ella Smith Sellers (Allen) of Ellerbe, North Carolina. Three special cousins, Rev. Anthony Ledbetter, Effie Ledbetter and Kenny Lilly who were raised together in the home of their grandparents, the late William Joe and Foy Ledbetter. Effie was his special caregiver who made sure his needs were taken care of. A host of nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends who will cherish fond memories of Buck.

The Homegoing Services were held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, 11:00am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Burial followed in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Norwood, North Carolina.
