As life goes on, the roads get rough, and the hills seem hard to climb. If you put God in front of it all, the bumps and bruises will one day be left behind.
On Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:30pm, God saw fit to add to His Kingdom. He sent his angels down to bring Mother Virginia Ester Smith home, a day she had yearned for many, many years.
Mother Virginia Smith was born on April 20, 1926, to the late Thomas C. Leak and Minister Ada Leak. She departed this earthly life while being cared for in the home for over seven years by her dedicated and devoted daughter Arlania Wall.
Mother Virginia Smith was educated in the Anson County Schools. She was a domestic worker for many years. Later in life, she worked at Anson County Hospital for numerous years in housekeeping. After retirement, she worked at Martin Furniture, Inc. until her health declined.
Mother Virginia Smith was a life-long member of First Baptist Church in Wadesboro, NC. She served in many capacities. She was very serious about her faith when it came to serving the Lord. Any time one was in contact with Mother, she would tell you how good the Lord was, and how she found joy in living for Him.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Smith; sisters, Mabel Fenner, Mildred Little, Bernice Phillips; and one brother, James Thomas Leak.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her daughter, Arlania Wall of the home, her son, Conel (Elizabeth) Bennett of Kannapolis, NC, her grandchildren, Cassaundra Comeaux, James (Monica) Wall, Lamont (Hilary) Wall, all of Wadesboro, NC, Maurice (Laketa) Wall of Kathleen, GA, Marquis (Crystal) Bennett of Greensboro, NC, Pastor Anthony Crowder Sr. (Yolanda), Katrina (Vernon) Alsbrooks, both of Charlotte, NC, Tracy Moore of Texas, a sister, Edna Gatewood of Corona, NY, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord⦠if you know Him! The life Mother lived exemplified her relationship with Him! Journey well, Mother Virginia Smith!
The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, October 21, 2023, 4:30pm, First Baptist Church, Sikes Avenue, Wadesboro, North Carolina where she was a faithful member until her health failed.
The Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 4:00-4:30pm at First Baptist Church and at all other times at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Arlania Wall.
