Mother Ruth Valter Ingram Ricketts, 86 transitioned peacefully on March 17th at 1:14pm to her eternal rest at Kernersville Medical Center in Kernersville, N.C.
She was born April 3rd, 1935 in Lilesville, N.C. (Anson County) to Major Ingram and Martha Caple Ingram. She attended public school in Wadesboro, N.C. She joined Pee Dee Baptist Church at an early age and was an active member until re-locating to Charlotte, N.C. In Charlotte, she was ordained to serve as a Deacon at New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. She served as president of the Pastor’s Aide committee and was also a member of the choir.
Mother Ruth was employed by Lerner retain shop for many years as a salesclerk and retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System food services department.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Major Ingram and Martha Caple Ingram, siblings; Clara Colson/Lee Colson, Essie Mae Smith/General Smith, Preston Ingram/Sarah Ingram, Edmond Ingram/Edna Ingram, Cora Lee Hilliard/Robert Hilliard Sr., Yvonne Ingram and Doretha Horne.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three children; Major Ingram, Charlotte, N.C., Patricia Ingram, Kernersville, N.C. Margaret Stanback/Arthur Stanback, Durham, NC. Four grandchildren; Mario Ingram, Kernersville, N.C., Robert Ingram/Tameka Ingram, Browns Summit, N.C. LeJarris Ingram, Charlotte, N.C. and Yasmin Ingram, Atlanta, Georgia. Three great grandchildren; Camden Ingram, Alan Ingram and LeJarris Williams Jr. as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Friday, March 25, 2022, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be at Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
The viewing and family visitation for Mother Ricketts will be on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 12:00-1:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.
