DEACON HORACE HUNTLEY JR.
Deacon Horace Huntley, Jr., led by example and served the Lord! He was born August 3, 1961, to the late Horace Huntley, Sr., and Juanita Bittle Huntley in Chesterfield, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life for his Heavenly Home March 20, 2020, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond, surrounded by his wife of 36 years, children, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Horace confessed Christ at an early age and worshipped at Flat Rock A.M.E. Zion Church and New Jerusalem Church, before joining Parsons Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Lilesville. During his tenure at Parsons Grove Missionary Baptist Church, he proudly served as a Deacon for over 20 years, served as vice-president of the Deacon Board, a Sunday school teacher, and member of the gospel choir, male choir and usher board. Labor Day, September 5, 1993, he married the love of his life-Madie Hudson Huntley and to this union three children were born. Horace was known as Chicken Man, Double H (H.H.), daddy, papa, and a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a 1979 graduate of Bowman High School, a member of the varsity basketball team, and drove a school bus for his classmates during his Senior year of high school. He received additional training in auto mechanics and trucking. Horace could fix and tow anything. After high school, he worked at John Faulkner Motors as a mechanic. After 20 years of service to Tyson Foods Trucking, he spent his last years in trucking with Edwards Wood Products before obeying his body and retiring. He was preceded in death by his Father-Horace Huntley, Sr., Granddaughter-Mahogany Breél, Sister-Lora Ann Bittle, and Brother-in-law-Earl Bridges. Sis. Madie,, our prayers are with you and your family during this time of sorrow.
It was always a pleasure to see him when we visited home. That beautiful smile will be deeply missed at the Parson Grove Missionary Baptist Church!
Understanding that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, our brother is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
My heart and prayers goes out to the Huntley family at a time like this. Parsons Grove will truly miss him also. I pray that our God will send a blessing your way. Deacon will always be in ours remembrance. Continue to look up to God he will never leave you be blessed.
