Lillian and I have been friends since our days at Third National Bank. We worked closely together and spoke and shared with each other every day. I transferred to the Board of Education and she went to Tennessee state university. Still we remained close in touch. In 2008, I moved to Virginia and we talked every three or four days. Our boys went to whites Creek high school and we often attended school activities together. I am grieving for her deeply and don't know when I'll ever get over my sisters passing. My best regards to her family. God Bless you all. Joyce Cobbs

To the Williams and McFarland Family, I am deeply saddened by the loss that you have encountered. Vernetta and I were basketball teammates at Haynes High School and became even closer friends over the years. I will truly miss her but just know that Heaven will be a better place because she's there. My condolences. Theresa Jackson Harris

Condolences and Prayers for the Family and Friends.
Min Lillian Vernetta McFarland was one of the nicest people I knew! She worked in the Athletic Office at TSU when I was a freshman playing basketball! She took me as her little brother, brought me home cooked meals to the office and she could cook very well! My Condolences to the the family!!!
Vernetta and I were friends since our day at Haynes High School. Although we did not see each other often in later years, our bond reached across the miles. My fond thoughts of our times together are etched in my memory. Sharing in your grief with love and friendship. Patsy Gray Graham
