To my sisters in Christ, Minister Jean, Sherry and Gloria, and to the entire Washington Family. Thank you for sharing your father with me from the time I was about 10 years until now. Rev. Washington was my Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, champion, mentor, confidante, family friend, and spiritual grandfather. I fondly recall church programs where I would look for the shortest speaking role for Easter or Vacation Bible School, and he would say, "No, Sonia, that won't do." Throughout law school and my career, he always shared an encouraging scripture and reminded me to always stand on God's promises. Rev. Washington was like family to my family there and to my husband, Scott, and son, Scott II. We are sorry that we could not be there today, but know that we love you and grieve with you. My trips home won't quite be the same without a visit to Rev. Washington, but he will live on in our hearts forever.
The Bible says, "God will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4
God bless you, Sonia, Scott & Scott II

My heart is filled with sadness about the passing of Rev. Washington. He was such a gentle and caring man. He always gave me words of encouragement to "keep on keeping on". I can remember when I cut my hair really short. He asked me, "do you know where a woman's beauty lies". I responded, no. He told me her beauty lies in her hair. I told him that my beauty was just resting low. We both just laughed. I will miss you my former Deacon and life coach. Love you always. Rest in Peace. Kendra Pitts and Family
We will always remember Rev. David Washington for his kind hand of encouragement he extended to the young Christians at St. Paul Baptist Church for many years. He guided many of us to trust in God as we reached for higher goals in life. We truly believe his reward awaits him in Heaven.
