Obituary For Ms. Willia Mae Jamison

Graveside services for Ms. Willia Mae Jamison, 74, of 1424 Fork Avenue, Apt. 111, Irmo, SC, will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Felderville AME Church Cemetery, 1081 Woolbright Road, Elloree, with interment to follow. Rev. Nathaniel Bookhardt is officiating.

Willia Mae Jamison, the daughter of her late mother and father, Christer Bell Pelzer and Harry Clay Jamison, was born on November 7, 1947 in Santee, SC. Mae passed away on September 11, 2022 at the Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, SC.

In 1965 Mae moved to New York City where she raised her children and worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Research Institute of America, Inc. She loved the Lord and her family. Mae’s walk with the Lord started at an early age at Felderville AME church. After moving to New York City, she joined Southern Baptist church where she introduced her children to the Lord, then after moving to Texas, joined Resurrection Baptist Church.

Mae was an phenomenal mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Mae loved to laugh, dance, and sing old hymns while cooking and caring for her family. She was such a joy to be around, that people would always ask about “Mama Mae.”

Mae was preceded in death by her twin sister, Willia Dean Jamison, her younger brother Charlie Lee Jamison, and her eldest daughter, Debbie Marie Jamison.

Mae’s legacy lives on through: her two children, Twanda Yteria Torres and Shaun Alex Jamison; 10 grandchildren, Amar Jermond Jamison, Latroy Jermell Jamison, Jazmin Yemani Torres, Desiree Janeice Torres, Trinity Nilah Torres, Keenan Osei Jamison, Devin Shaun Taylor, Shaun Alex Jamison II, Soleil Antonio Jamison, and Semra Malia Jamison; two great-grandchildren, X’Zayveon Jermell Jamison and Haniya Williams; four sisters, Dora Lee Brown, Lily Ruth Howard, Mary Maggie Lee Jamison, and Betty Jean Butler; one half-sister, Rosa Mae Johnson; one brother, Harry Manley Jamison; one son-in-law, Reynaldo Torres; two brothers-in-law, late Benjamin Howard and Timothy Butler; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Louise Jamison, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.

She lived a full life. May she Rest In Peace.

There will be no public viewing.
