Funeral services for Ms. Elease T. Anthony, 77, of 122 Wright Road, Orangeburg, will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Beulah Refuge Tabernacle, 469 State Road S-38-93, Orangeburg, SC, with interment to follow in Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery. Bishop David Smith is officiating.
Ms. Anthony will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Ms. Elease Toomer Anthony was born February 12, 1942 to the late Frank and Maebelle Busby Toomer in Cope, South Carolina. She departed this life on Monday, December 30, 2019 at her residence in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Elease attended Carver High School in Cope, South Carolina. She spent many years nurturing neighborhood children as if they were her own. She later became a Foster Parent of the Orangeburg Foster Parents Association, during her tenure she loved and nurtured 32 foster children in her home.
She attended Beulah Refuge Tabernacle where she served as a Senior Missionary and Women Council Member.
Elease worked for many years at Nibco and Stone Manufacturing. She later worked at OCAB Head Start Center in Neeses, South Carolina for 13 years as a culinarian. She was an excellent cook and LOVED to cook for others.
She was married to Deacon Joe Anthony and to this union 6 children were born; four daughters, Roberta (Rodney) Broughton of Ruffin, SC, Gwendolyn Jenkins of Orangeburg, SC, Linda Anthony of Spartanburg, SC and Kay (Elder Jeffers) Holman of Orangeburg, SC; later she reared and adopted her beloved daughter, Felicia Anthony of Orangeburg, SC; two sons, Willie Anthony and Patrick Anthony both of Norway, SC; two brothers, Odell (Laura) Toomer of Washington, DC and Frank (Linda) Toomer, Jr. of Denmark, SC; twenty-six grandchildren; fifteen great-grands; a godson, Stacy Brooks of Columbia, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 3, 2020 from 11:30am – 7:00pm.
Friends may call at the residence, 122 Wright Road, Orangeburg, SC or Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg.
