Funeral services for Ms. Britteny N. Govan, 32, of 3755 Rowesville Road, Rowesville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, with interment to follow in Belleville Memorial Gardens. Pastor Celia A. Glover is officiating.
Britteny Nichelle Govan, was born December 8, 1989 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to Mary Susie Simmons Young and the late Dexter Govan. She received her wings on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at MUSC Health Primary Care Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
Britteny graduated from Orangeburg Wilkerson High School in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She was employed by McDonald's at the age of 15 and continue her work experience with Koyo Bearing for twelve years.
Her Christian experience began at an early age starting at Macedonia Baptist Church and it followed her across the street to Gospel Light Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Azalee Rush and Pastor Mary Walker. She was never without a church home, she loved to follow her grandmother Earnestine and great-grandmother Lillie Mae to church to Sundays. She also would attend the Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with her mother and father. Realizing that she needed a Saviour, she heard the voice of the Lord speaking to her and joined the Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Celia Glover.
Britteny never met a stranger. Her smiles and loving ways always open the hearts of those she met. Once you met Britteny, you could never forget the warm spirit that God gave her.
Britteny was preceded in death by her father, her grandparents, Bennie and Mary J. Simmons; great-grandparents, Louis Smith, Lillie Mae Pauling, Gable Lee and Mark Simmons; uncle Darrell Govan.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Mary and father Charles Young of the home; three sisters, Jasimine Jackson, Destiny Govan, and Jannetta (Tyrell) Reed; grandparents, Monroe and Evangelist Earnestine Govan; great-grandmother, Eartha Whestone; eight aunts, Judy (Larry) Cleckley, Pamala Govan, Monica (Derrick) Gidron, Keisha Simmons, Dawn (Williams) Simmons-Thomas, Veronica Harrison, Selena Young, Shalyn (Charles) Felder, Feticia Young and an aunt figure Salena (Lance) Harrison; three uncles, John (Hattie) Simmons, Bennie Simmons, Jr., and Gemmell (Nyron) Perry; one special uncle figure, John Washington; six grandaunts, Betty Baker, Dorothy Bradley, Lessie Johnson, Patricia Govan, Carolyn Rowettle and Thomasine Adams; four granduncle, Mack, Marvin, Robert Simmons, and Melvin (Marie) Govan; three godparents, Brenda Mosley, Debra Sistrunk, and Cynthia Stroman; two god sisters, Keira Lee and Asia Lee Busby; special thanks to two beloved caregivers, Betty Baker and Veronica Harrison; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Friends may call at the residence of her mother, Mrs. Mary Simmons Young, 3755 Rowesville Road, Rowesville, or Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg.
