Mr. Alvin H. Zeigler “Zip,” was born August 25, 1949, in Orangeburg, SC. He earned his wings on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at his residence in Columbia, SC. Alvin was a loving brother, uncle, cousin, co-worker and friend. Alvin was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Upon his return from active duty, he landed employment with the State of South Carolina as a master plumber in Columbia, SC, where he remained until his retirement. Alvin also worked with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, SC Parks and Recreation, Benedict College and the University of South Carolina. Alvin enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was very out-going and full of life. He never met a stranger. Everyone was a friend, even if he hadn’t met them yet. He always chose to see the best in people, even when no one else could. “Zip” was truly a jack of all trades. Alvin was also a member of the Modern Free & Accepted Masons of the world. He was a member of B’Natural Grand Lodge #079, past Werthy Master of Henry William Lodge #24, Werthy Patron on OES Nefertiti Chapter #514, past PWP of OES Infinity Chapter #346, Royal Arch Secret 32o, Ezra Consistroy #1810, and Past Potentate of Hiram Temple #089. Alvin accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Mrs. Harden Zeigler. Alvin leaves to cherish fond memories: four sisters: Rev. Barber Zeigler of Atlanta, GA, Rose Robinson, Iris E. Lambright and Janice (Deacon Herbert) Snell all of Orangeburg, SC; three brothers: Harden (Joann) Zeigler, Charles W. Zeigler, PhD. And Michael A. Zeigler; a host of loving nieces and nephews; one special niece, Monica Lambright; one special cousin, Clara Crawford; four special friends: Henry Parker, Marcus Benjamin, Tanya Harris and Pat Blankenship; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.

I met Mr. Zeigler approximately 4 years ago through my colleague and He has been one of the most dedicated, kind, friendly persons I've ever come in contact me. From becoming my plumber/handy man to one of the greatest friends anyone could ever have, Mr. Zeigler was that person. Everything He did was always with a smile filled with kindness. He was definitely loved by myself and my family as well as anyone he came in contact with. He was truly a an Angel sent from Above and will be missed tremendously. I offer my condolences to His family and we know He has gained those wings we all hope to get when our day arrives. Much Love and many prayers! Mary Williams and Family of Columbia, SC

I don't where begin but Zeigler will forever be missed. He was a very good friend to my dad and was also his masonic brother. He was such a genuine person and would do anything to help you when you needed him. He was a big help to me when I moved back in my parent's house. He did so much for me to help make the house more livable. He was more than just a friend he was more like family and I'm sure I speak for all of my siblings. I'm going to missed that laugh and also seeing him parade around town in his truck with that SC State emblem, the Mickie Mouse and of course, that Dallas Cowboy star. Continue to rest well in the Lord and condolences to your family. Conchitha Jones & family.
