Funeral services for Elder Cecil Daniel Robinson, Sr., 76, of 225 Myers Lane, St. Matthews, SC, will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2020 at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 2868 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, SC, with interment to follow in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens. Reverend John R. Osborne is officiating.
Elder Robinson, was the youngest son of nine children born to the late Thomas and Eve Lee Matthews Robinson, was born September 21, 1943 in Orangeburg, South Carolina.He departed this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, South Carolina.
"Uncle Cecil", as he was known by many, joined Warren Chapel Baptist Church at an early age, along with his father and other siblings. There he participated in various ministries. He and his immediate family joined Greater Faith Baptist Church in 1981 under the tutelage of the late Reverend Doctor N.L.A. Griffin and his wife, Minister Rosemary S. Griffin. As a member, he led the Prison Ministry and served on the ministerial staff. He remained faithful and dedicated until his transition. He loved his church and spoke highly of Greater Faith.
"Uncle Cecil" was a atop notch, self-employed carpenter for over 45 years. He was well known in the community for spreading the "Word of the Lord." He received his High School Diploma from Calhoun County High School Adult Education Program in 1992. He was licensed to preach the gospel on April 9, 1955. He participated in Bible Study at the Edisto Drive Community Center along with Bishop Donald Oliver. They had an awesome time sharing their knowledge. He thoroughly enjoyed preaching and teaching about Jesus.
"Uncle Cecil" was married to the late Nannie Sue Morris Robinson for 55 years and they both grew spiritually together.
"Uncle Cecil" was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two children: Cecil D. Robinson, Jr. and Renee Robinson Maddox; four brothers: Pinese, Sammie, John "Booker T" and Lewis Robinson; two sisters: Gussie R. Gooden and Mary R. Cobbs.
"Uncle Cecil" leaves to cherish his precious memories: his two loving daughters, Angela R. Douglas of Orangeburg, SC and Katrina R. Jackson of Atlanta, GA; two dear grandson, Akeem and Reynaldo Robinson, both raised in the home; two sisters, Louise R. Smith and Frances R. Jamison both of Orangeburg, SC; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; four grandchildren, Ashton, Jamie, Danesha and Taryn; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2020.
Friends may call at the residence, 225 Myers Lane, St. Matthews, SC or Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg.
