Deacon Curtis Bernard Carter

I 'm so sad to hear about the passing of Curtis. We meet over a decade ago when he attended Belmont Abbey College. He was a wonderful basketball player. He just loved people and they loved him back. Rest in peace my friend!!

It was with great sadness learning of the passing of my friend & former classmate Curtis Carter on this week.Curtis was always a kind gentleman and he will be greatly missed. He was always happy and fun to work with..Just can't believe he has joined the Angels in Heaven already.

Yojuana and Dexter, I only learned of Curtis's passing yesterday. My heart is sad to know he is no longer here but joyful to know where he is now. Curtis was my manager at the bank and my friend. He was always so pleasant and fun to be around but could be serious when he needed to be. I remember giving him one our dog's puppies that I believe he named Bishop. Every time I would see him I would ask about Bishop, and he would tell me all about him and how high Bishop could jump. He loved that dog, and I was always so happy to know that. And he certainly loved his family too. And so many people loved and knew snd respected Curtis. When I tell people where I work, many of them ask me if I know Curtis Carter. And I am always proud to tell them that I do.

My deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Curtis Carter. I first met Mr. Carter around my junior year in college at SC State University back in the early 90's. My roommate and I was searching for off campus housing when we came across the perfect property off of Ridgewood Drive. After all these years yes I still remember the address. We contacted Mr. Carter about the property and he said it was still available. At the time I had no idea that Mr. Carter was originally from Fairfield County until after several months from renting from him. During that very moment I started to feel very comfortable because I was too from Fairfield. He was definitely a gentle Giant. My roommate was from Columbia but the fact that we both knew that our landlord was from my home county. We felt that much more protected and safe. So I say to the family cherish all of the good times and memories.

I met Curtis Carter at St. Paul and we worked together in the NAACP. I found him to always be a gentleman and to treat everyone with kindness. To know Curtis was to love a true Man of God, Husband, Father, Big Brother, GrandDad, Uncle, Loving Cousin, & Friend. Growing up with Curtis was joy because He treated All the Family members like the Kings & Queens that we are! The females were always greeted with a kiss & long tall hug that never lasted long enough. Being raised on the Lumpkin Plantation of Winnsboro, South Carolina. Our family knows that early Saturday morning of July 24, Uncle Benny & Aunt Willie Mae was standing near the mailbox of Heaven waving Curtis to come in to his Heavenly home.
