My name is John Allen Fullmore, Sr. I am a black man born in a little small town in the backwoods of South Georgia on Saturday, December 4, 1948, to the parents of the late Tommy Lee Lawson & the late Cleo Fullmore Lawson. I am saved, sanctified and Holy Ghost filled, with a mind to live right. I am a faithful deacon at Madison Avenue Church of God by Faith, under the leadership of Elder Dr. Larry W. Coffee & Lady Sharon Kaye Coffee. I also serve on the South Georgia District Finance Team. I am strong and I am encouraged that God has a plan and a purpose for my life and that he makes no mistakes. Now for any of you that think you’re going to see me again you had better get right with God!

I was reared in the Christian faith and attended New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Coverdale, Georgia. I served faithfully in whatever capacity the church leaders asked of me. Upon moving to Tifton, Georgia, I became a member of New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministry. I was also faithful to the ministry there. It was at New Beginnings that I was called to be a Deacon.

I was educated in the public school system. I attended Eureka School, which was our only school at the time and it housed kindergarten through 12th grade. I graduated in the class of 1967 as John A. Lawson. While attending Eureka, I met and became best friends with Charles Edge during a spelling contest. We have remained best friends to this day.

I can't leave out another very good friend and fishing buddy competitor, Randy Jordan. We argued about everything pertaining to fishing: where the best ponds were, what lure to use, who was the better fisherman and even who caught the most fish. We would tell each other “I’m through with you because you think you know everything”. But, in a matter of hours we were calling each other again. My friend went to sleep a few short weeks ago. He’ll probably tell me he won again because he beat me in the gate. We were such true friends that we couldn’t even go to sleep without each other!

Upon graduation from Eureka High School, I was drafted to serve our country. It was at this time that I was told that my name on my birth certificate is John A. Fullmore. I served in the U. S. Army from August 23, 1968, to March 26, 1970. I served one tour of duty during the Vietnam War. I served in cities such as Long Binh, Bien Hoa, La-Kae and the Cambodian Border. I received several medals including the Good Conduct medal, the Sharpshooter medal, the Bronze Star and the Combat Medal.

Upon leaving the military, I became employed by Piggly Wiggly of Ashburn Georgia. Whatever I did I always gave it my best. I was employed there for over 22 years. After retiring, I became self-employed doing what I loved best, working as a carpenter.

On November 5, 1993, I chose the love of my life, Sharon Elizabeth Jackson, as my wife. She is known affectionately by me as “Shirley Lizabeth”. But don’t y’all get it twisted now, it doesn’t matter what I call her, she is MY wife, Mrs. Fullmore. When we entered this union, we became a family of eleven. Our children are Angela Fullmore, Lakesia Jackson, Christopher Jackson, Ashley Fullmore, Kayon Carr, Darius Brown, John A Fullmore Jr., Isiah Fullmore, and Kameron (Alyssa) Fullmore. We were blessed with 13 grandchildren; Jasmine, Janiya, Jayla, Taylor, Kamorie, Genesis, Ahmari, Miyla, Zaria, Tristan, Kendrick, Ronin and Chantrelle. I love all my nieces and nephews, but I want to give special recognition to one who has been here through thick and thin. Arthur R Lawson, Jr. Thank you for taking up time with an old man. God favored us and gave us a host of God Children. Elesia (Melvin), Malaysia, Marchad, and Malia Edwards, Racquel (Cortez)Fields, Tiffany Peacock, Jordan Glenn, Madison Bell and Ivory & Addison Downs.

Along with my parents I have had several siblings to go on before me. They are Fannie Mae Felton, Geneva Baldwin, Eva Lue Clark, Arthur Lawson and Alton Lawson.

On March 12th in the year of our Lord 2023, John and his Heavenly Father decided it was time for him to leave this old cruel world behind. He accepted the Master’s call and transitioned from labor to reward. He was at his home surrounded by loved ones to include his dearly beloved sister and assistant caregiver, Inez Thomas. She was affectionately known to John as “Grandma Daniel”.

The siblings that are left behind to keep his memory alive are Tommie Lee King, Gary Lee (Delois) Lawson, Inez Thomas, Gloria (John) Lawson, Nathaniel (Devane) Lawson, Margaret Smith and Wanda Lawson. One devoted Sister-in-law, Louella Lawson.
